Dr. Takahisa Robert Takei, MD

Presented myself for a badly healed fractured finger that had developed serious contracture. After 6 weeks of hand exercises, he said there was nothing he could do for my limited mobility. He recommended no treatment other than stretching, which worsened my contracture. At my follow-up he dismissed my concerns, interrupted, and insulted me that my injury was "not catastrophic" (I work with my hands). He dismissed my pain level, numbness, and lack of sensation, and was very quick to shove me out of his office and condescend that I just needed to "work it out." At both visits the doctor simply disappeared and I had to ask at nurse if I was done with my visit. Perhaps he is a good doctor if you need carpal tunnel surgery, but he had no sympathy for me. I would not recommend Dr. Takei and will be seeking a second opinion at Penn Medicine.

Dr. Takei and everyone at the surgery center were very pleasant and made everything go smoothly. Within a few weeks of the surgery it was like nothing ever happened to my wrist and now after about 5 months I don’t even realize sometimes that it was broken.

Dr. Takei has a very engaging and professional demeanor. He seems to be an excellent surgeon for hand problems like the release surgery I required for my Dupueytren’s Syndrome problem. The Rothman New Britain Surgery Center nurses and anesthesiologists were informative and friendly and got the job done expeditiously. I was expecting a painful recovery. I experienced very little pain. Two Tylenol an hour or two after returning home was all the pain medication I required. Dr. Takei got me right into rehab, and the rehab experts are also very capable. The rehab is helping a lot. I am very pleased with my Rothman experience to date

I have been seeing Dr. Takei for several years now to treat my arthritis in my hands. He is totally awesome in every respect! Personable, caring, patient… taking the time to make sure that I not only understand but that I am comfortable with my options and choices. I can’t recommend him highly enough!
