No wait time to see him. Dr. Tanney spends as much time as you need. He is gentle and caring. A great doctor.

Dr Tanney has been our Family Dr for over 20 years. He is excellent! Our insurance doesn't cover him anymore but we continue to go to him and pay the extra.

Very compassionate and caring Doctor, and his medical knowledge is outstanding as well.

Dr Tanney was our family Dr for most of our years studying in the US (about 8 years, which included having two children). We had a lot of trouble finding a good Dr as an international student family, and were pleased and relieved to find Dr Tanney. Dr Tanney was always helpful, personable and reliable, and honest, which we greatly appreciated. After leaving Chicago and living in Australia for some years, I had an extreme allergic reaction to something - I couldn't get my Dr down the road to call me in the same country, but Dr Tanney returned my call from America to answer my questions and give me some medical advice over the 'phone, and I was SO UNBELIEVEABLY GRATEFUL!!! The advice was very helpful in managing the medical symptoms I was experiencing, but his thoughtfulness in calling me back, even though I'm now living overseas was special and reassuring - Dr Tanney really cares about his patients and tries to help and care for them (despite some business officials in the health… care system in the USA sometimes seeming to care more about getting their paper work right and making sure they extract every penny they can) - this we experienced several times with other doctors and practices before we met Dr Tanney, in our time in Chicago, but never with Dr Tanney or his personal practice.

Horrible experience. Avoid at all costs. Doctor Tanney is an adequate doctor, but the bureaucracy, lack of transparency and medical ethics that surrounds his office is appalling, unprofessional, and substantially threatens Dr. Tanney's ability to provide medical care. I have been calling for the past 5-6 months (since June, now it's November) requesting a billing miscoding change which would correct an error causing us to foot the bill rather than the insurance company. After 3 months, I was finally able to reach Christina Harrington, the supervisor in charge of making coding decisions. She lied to me in a voice mail she left me and told me she and Dr. Tanney agreed they would correct the miscode. They neglected to make changes and didn't even respond to the coding change request, and according to Dr. Tanney's own office, too much time elapsed so they could not make the changes - and we would have to pay for the payment - all because THEY failed to deal with the issue. They… didn't even give me the decency to explain what happened- I had to call almost every day to try to piece together it myself. In more detail: 1) Dr. Tanney's office billed an annual blood procedure as a diagnostic exam, even though I have been going to his office with the blood pressure issue for years. The insurance does not cover diagnostic tests - we explained this to Dr. Tanney's office and they said to call the billing office for a coding request change. 2) Starting in June, I called the billing office and Dr. Tanney's office dozens of times. The customer service representatives at the billing office were helpful and tried to reach Dr. Tanney's office as well. Multiple representatives tried to reach Dr. Tanney and Christina Harrington at Dr. Tanney's office. All but two times, Christina neglected to call them back when they tried to reach her. I tried for months to call her at her different offices (the offices would tell me to try her other office, and then when I tried calling that office, the second office would refer me back to the first). EACH TIME I was told Christina would call me back that day for the following day, she failed to do so and I had to call back again. 3) Months passed, and despite my constant phone calls, Dr. Tanney's office failed to deal with the coding issue and make the changes. 4) After months of of phone tag (more like us calling the office because neither the North Shore customer service nor Dr. Tanney's office really called back) - we finally got the elusive Christina to call me and leave a very short voice message: She had spoken to Dr. Tanney and they agreed that the coding changes should be made and would be made. We would not have to foot the medical bill because the insurance would cover it. 5) Another month passed and we received another bill. I called the billing office, and they said that Dr. Tanney's office again failed to do anything (was sitting on the coding request sent over by the billing office). The representative expressed the bizarreness of the situation because Dr. Tanney's office was the one who called the billing office to request the billing office send the code request form. The billing office promised to follow up with Dr. Tanney's office. 6) Apparently Christina Harrington at Dr. Tanney's office directly LIED to us. A week later I received a phone call from the billing office saying that Christina and Dr. Tanney decided not to make changes and that would be the "final decision." Again, this is directly contrasting what Christina told me when she called me the previous month. No explanations were given. Even the representative at the billing office said on a human level it is wrong to tell someone one thing and then change it without giving them an explanation. 7) I called Dr. Tanney's office two more times. I was told Christina would call me back because the front desk "had no training" on handling coding. She did not call me back. 8) The front desk looked at Christina's notes and told me that the reason they could not make changes was that too much time had elapsed and that the coding request had been sent too many times - this is extremely frustrating because they seem to think it is okay to make us pay for a bill we should not pay (and which they could have gotten to get the insurance to pay for if they hadn't been negligent in dealing with this issue) - when it was their fault this took so long/ and their fault the coding request change had to be sent to them multiple times. Dr. Tanney failed his ethical responsibility his patient. It is not okay to lie to patients, (especially patients like me who have been going to Dr. Tanney for years.) It is not okay to engage in coding fraud. It is not okay to withhold information from your patient. It is not okay to drag payment issues along for months. (Because of this experience with Dr. Tanney. It is not okay to make patients pay because you lied and failed to take care of coding issues in a timely fashion.

Dr Tanney has been my family's doctor for almost 20 yrs. He is patient, saavy and discreet. He has cared for my family as if it were his won. He remains focused and is a real problem solver no matter how distraught one may be. He listens and provides you with clear nonjudgmental direction. His office staff are well trained and courteous. I have never had a problem getting an appointment and Dr Tanney follows up in a timely manner with any post appointment needs. I thank God for for this humble, competent and caring professional.

He's a great doctor, always spot on. His referrals are always top notch. He started the ball that cured me of stage 4 cancer. My family has seen him for over 20 years. He is one great human being, he even knows how to fly a military helicopter. The mans brilliant, and he makes yearly trips to poor countries to provide medical treatment to the locals on his dime. I can't say enough good about him.

Our family has seen Dr. Tanney for more than 12 years. Not only is he a good physician, but he is caring and compassionate and I never feel like he's rushing me along to see the next patient. I highly recommend him.

Robert Tanney is a doctor who cares to the core of his being. When it come to diagnosing a problem he generaaly has a strong sense of the problem prior to running any tests. He is a gifted doctor and a great human being.

Never a surprise - very wide knowledge of many many disorders, skin problems, who to go see for beterr opinion, open, honest.
