Dr. Ronni Mangjean Chen, MD

Very unprofessional doctor who seemingly pre judged my son prior to his exam. She did not listen to express concerns and abruptly cut me off when I tried to voice them. Definitely a one size fits all approach, a total waste of time. When I let her know of my dissatisfaction with her approach, she yelled at me “I’m sorry your having a bad day” the comment alone showed her lack of professionalism and care for patient. You don’t say to a parent that the reason their child is complaining of eye problems is a lack of competence. 1. It’s extremely inappropriate in front of a child 2. She’s an eye dr not a Neurologist. Not equipped to deal with children and especially those of special needs! Wish I could give 0 starts.

After years of dealing with strabismus, it was recommended that I make an appointment with Dr. Chen. I finally got up the nerve and am so happy that I did. Dr. Chen was so kind and understanding of the emotional toll it had on me. Dr. Cheb offered her professional opinion and within 3 weeks I had surgery to correct the eye. Dr. Chen's bedside manner and the time she took with me, exceeded my expectations. I appreciated how she always took the time and asked if I had any questions for her after each visit. One of the best doctors I have experienced in any field of medicine. I would highly recommend Dr. Chen.

You can’t find a doctor as wonderful as she is! Takes her time on the exam, so hilarious and very knowledgeable!

I'm sorry to say that I had a negative experience with Dr Chen. I was looking forward to having an informative conversation in regards to my child's vision health, instead I received a very cold and condescending vibe from Dr. Chen. She made it seem as if she was in a rush and when I tried to show her a video which showed my child's eye problems she cut me off and said she didn't need to see that and that she "sees videos like that everyday". After determining that my child had a slight stigmatism I asked that based on her experience at what age do kids with this condition usually start wearing eyewear? I was expecting an age range or a very generic "it can happen at any age", instead her answer was that if she "knew the answer to that she would be a medium and not a Dr". I found it offensive how someone with such high regard as an M.D. could behave in such an insensitive and unprofessional manner to the parent of a first time patient. I felt as if my child's health concerns, as… minute as they may seem to her, were not made a priority during our consultation. The feeling of confidence was not there as we left her office. Maybe she was having a bad day, which we all have, but she shouldn't make her patients feel as if their concerns aren't important. On a positive note, I must say the staff in the front desk were very friendly and warm.

She is terrific

We love Dr. Chen. She is caring, considerate, and interested in your child's eye problems. Through her care the last three years, my son no longer needs to wear glasses. He had very reduced vision in his left eye due to amblyopia, but Dr. Chen worked to correct and now he does not need glasses. I would recommend her to anyone who has children with special vision needs.
