Dr. Scott M Schulze, MD

Arrogant and has no patience to listen to you as the paying customer. I've waited over 90 minutes in his office without any heads up he was running late. Not a good practice at all. The staff is great but he is the worst. Go elsewhere

I don’t know why I had such a different experience than the 5 stars. He was very matter of fact. Never makes eye contact. I felt uncomfortable leaving the office for my first appointment because he was so cold. I am new to the area and was in a lot of pain and against my better judgement went through with surgery. When he got there he said “oh there it’s you” said a few words and said “any questions” and I said I don’t think and he said “perfect” like obvious that he was happy he didn’t need to talk to me. When I came out of surgery, he said all of two sentences to my mom who drove me. He didn’t introduce himself and rattled off what had happened. We both left knowing very little as what I went into surgery for, was not what I came out with. I had to go home and Google. My care instructions say to ice for a day or two, basically initially. It says nothing about continued icing 4-6 times a day. A week after surgery the swelling has gone down but the nerve pain is intense. It feels like… I’m being electrocuted. I called to ask to speak to someone in the office. I explained the nerve pain was really bad, and the nurse puts me on hold and comes back and says “ice more. You should be icing 4-5 times a day”. Then, why did the only at home instructions I was given say a day or two? He made my follow-up appointment three weeks after surgery. I wasn’t even offered the opportunity to come in sooner. Even with saying I’m not doing well at all right now. Worse than anything I experienced before surgery. The nurse was rude as well and when I was mid sentence put me on hold. Not only am I in pain, it’s clear I picked the wrong surgeon. There is another hand specialist in the area - Lewes. Go with them. I’ve never felt more ignored by a doctor or seen worse bed side manner, ever.

There isn’t adequate wording to express my gratitude to Dr. Schulze and his team of knowledgeable professionals. The scar from my surgery compared to the scar from the initial trauma is outstanding. This leads me to believe that in addition to specializing in this field regarding repairs, he must have furthered his continuing education to support a plastic surgical closing approach. (Or he is naturally extremely gifted....as it’s a beautiful closing) Dr. Shultze not only gave me the most optimal foundation to get my life back, but he (and his entire team) also advocated for me in order to do so. He is straight forward in regards to his diagnosis’ and treatment plan. He isn’t the type of surgeon to have long talks and psychologically hold your hand. If you want the best surgeon for the job to repair your injury, he’s your guy. Thank you Dr. Shulze! Because of you I will have the best chance at pursuing my goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

Not a good listener. Have issues with neck, arm, hand. Went to him mostly due to previous right wrist tendinitis which flared again. Sends me for EMG. 2nd visit- EMG didn’t pick up on previous EMG diagnosed right elbow nerve entrapment from another doc in different state. Writes a script for PT of my neck (which I had already from one of my other doc’s; which I had explained during both visits to his office). I ask him about my wrist and hand (original concern I went to him for) and he states “we’ll chalk that up to arthritis.” No X-ray or anything. Upon check out, I ask for copy of records from the two visits, knowing I would never be returning to this doc. They tell me $56. For less than two pages of notes!! (Already had EMG results in my possession). $28 a page. 2 seconds to print so virtually no labor involved. $.10 a page. You do the math. Needless to say, I passed on the fee and never looked back. Got an X-ray ordered from my PC of right wrist. NO arthritis at all. Going to my… RA doc now for cortisone shots. His check in/check out receptionist was rude on both visits. Lousy listener like her boss. I would avoid at all costs.

I was referred to Dr. Schulze after a bout of intense pain in both my hands. I had xrays and blood work done prior to the visit. He did not have my blood work and only got half of it while I was there. I do not expect doctors to be warm and fuzzy but I left in disbelief. I have never been to a doctor who was so arrogant and unconcerned! I was attempting to explain what happened and he shouted, "Answer my question! Where did it hurt not when...." He said he had no idea what was wrong and that if I had another bout to contact him and he'd squeeze me in.....end of visit. I wish I had read these other reviews first. I will NEVER return to his office.

My husband nearly severed his thumb with a circular saw and we saw Dr. Schulze in the ER. From the moment we met him we felt that we were in the hands of a skilled and very professional hand surgeon. He saved the thumb and has given excellent follow-up care. We are pleased to give him a well-deserved 5-star rating.

Fine a new doctor

At first I believed I was getting a very competent, caring, experienced surgeon. I have had a total of 4 surgeries and still need another. Three of those surgeries were performed by Dr. schulze, my initial surgery was supposed to be very easy and quick, then turned into an infection. When I called the office to tell them how awfully painful and PUSS FILLED my incision was (and the infection moving up my arm because when I called the day before they gave me an appointment for DAYS later) i was pushed to the back burner and they made me feel like i pretty much had to "suck it up" until THEY had time for me until I pushed to get in that day and was finally taken to surgery the next day to clean out the infection. When I finally got that taken care of my incision was so poorly done that I need PT for it. I also had to same surgery done on my other hand. Which I now found a new doctor to fix this one AGAIN because Dr. Schulze thinks he fixed it. In the arm that had the infection I also had… my new doctor fix, because Dr. Schulze told me to "wait it out for a year and it should get better." When my new doctor opened it up it was a MESS. Scare tissue stuck and wrapped around nerves and tendions, he showed me pictures and some of the nerves and tendions were pure white because of no blood supply, but remember Dr. Schulze didn't want to help me fix the AWFUL pain I kept telling him I was having, he wanted to ignore it and I'm sure it was because he knew it was going to be a mess in there. Through everything I've been through with him I've come to learn he doesn't like to admit he is wrong. It's always something the patient did. I have heard many horror stories from other patients I have talked to at PT and I am asking you to PLEASE find someone else so the things that happened to us don't happen to you!! His staff is almost as arrogant and ignorant as he is, good luck even getting a smile out of them. His bedside manner is like a rock! Please do yourself a favor choose someone else.
