Dr. Terry Collins Smith, MD

I had 2 surgeries with Dr. Smith. The first was a discectomy and fusion. After the surgery, I was in chronic pain. He suggested a spinal cord stimulator. He put it in incorrectly, resulting in me having another surgery (with another doctor!). I was told I should be a paraplegic because he wrapped the wires around my vertebrae. They had to remove a vertebrae to remove the stimulator. I couldn't sue him because Mississippi has a 2 year law, and he held me off for 2 years saying that the stimulator takes a while to work. Horrible!! I'm now 39 with nerve damage, chronic pain and peripheral neuropathy.

I thought I had done my research on this doctor and I went off the fact that he had over 30 years experience and at the time I could not see any bad reviews. Clearly I didn’t look in the right place. But just going off my own experience with him preforming my cervical spine surgery it was a complete failure. Im in worse shape than prior to my surgery and he put in his notes that I was doing much better. Clearly he’s got me mixed up with another patient or he’s just covering his own “…” . Now I’m starting over because I’m in need of more surgery. So beware of who you choose .

Oct 2018 I went in for lumbar fusion. Throughout 6 months fter surgery I complained about worst pain in back and both legs and feet. His recommendation once doing CT was more pt and to wear brace... in April2019 I got in with another neurosurgeon who did same MRI and cat scans Smith did once I began to complain and was told 2 pedicle screws were misplaced....one being directly in a nerve. I had to undergo removal and correct insertion of hardware with new surgeon. I am doing well a yr later but nerve damage done to both legs and feet I have to live with now. I wouldn't recommend Smith for any back procedure cause Ive since spoke with others with similar experiences with him however apparently he does good work on the neck? His attitude isnt work dealing with either just saying...

Last year, I had experienced the worst pain I had ever been in. I had a bulging disc in my lower back that was pressing against my sciatic nerve. The lower right side of my body was in such severe pain that I could barely walk or stand. My legs would give out and I was starting to fall often. My grandmother had a back procedure done with Dr. Smith and she suggested I go to him. I had 1 appointment and he scheduled surgery for the following week. I was sore from surgery for about 1 week and after that, I was feeling back to normal. No pain, no pain medication, nothing. I am eternally grateful for Dr. Smith and would recommend him to anyone having issues with their back, no matter how small the problem. Thanks Dr. Smith for giving my life back to me!!!!

I had a really good experience with Dr. Terry Smith. After three years of excruciating pain, he found out where the source of the pain was and I'm on the road to recovery after my infusion back in May 2019. He has never been rude to me and I will go back of ever needed and will definitely refer others to him. DR. TERRY SMITH is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!

Thank God for Dr. Terry C. Smith ,l am finally living a normal life without daily pain medications and awful side effects,we are blessed to have Dr. Smith !

I had a great experience and great results with Dr. Smith. I was always seen either early or on time for scheduled appointments. I had surgery 8 months prior to meeting Dr Smith (another Coast Dr.), he was able to correct my issues (neck & arm pain, numbness & loss of strength in my left hand).
