Dr. Vasili Karas, MD

Two things I wasn’t prepared for Dr. Cool and being told I’m too Fat for Knee Surgery. I’d worked myself into a horrible state of mind, scared of the knife and a needle in the knee. But I never thought I’d hear surgery was out for that reason, did recommend the Shots but didn’t mention it would be his Assistant completing that task. And yes I do know the doctor was doing his job. On the other hand I did get a “you can do it”. I really do like the Medical Services @ Rush as a whole. Thinking….

I have never been treated so brutally by an MD in my life. I have multiple health problems and was told with a smile and a handshake that I was too sick he would not be the surgeon to kill me and walked out of the room. I was hardly able to walk on my crutches to the exit as I was unable to not cry. What an insensitive jerk. Not one opinion on other treatment options for a hip badly in need of replacement. Or a shred of compassion for my growing inability to walk . Way to go rockstar hope you were proud of that performance. I desperately urge anyone who has complicated issues to run not walk (no matter how bad your knees or hips may be). This doctor left me utterly hopeless and suicidal. Stay away .

Very short appointment. Talked at me instead of with me. Gave very generic advice. Was given an injection that made knee pain worse. Follow-up questions went unanswered. Had expected more given Midwest Orthopedics' reputation.

I have just left the appointment marking one year since Dr. Karas repaired my knee. When I first saw Dr. Karas, my knee was in terrible pain and I could hardly walk. After trying everything I could to heal and relieve the pain, I was referred to Midwest Orthopedics. Dr. Karas and his entire team could have not been more caring and helpful. They took the time to make sure that I understood all my options and then to make sure that I knew what my entire procedure would entail. They were available for any questions and concerns, before and after my surgery. I can honestly say that everyone in the office was kind and a big part of the healing process. I am living a pain free life and am able to participate in all activities. I am so grateful for the care that I have received. I would highly recommend Dr. Karas to anyone needing knee or hip surgery.
