Dr. Victor Wei Turk Chen

I’ve been seeing Dr Chen for several years. Due to autoimmune disease(s), my claims of pain have been dismissed and even mocked by many other doctors over the last 2 decades. But Dr Chen is the one physician I have created a long-standing relationship with, because he continues to run tests, fight insurance for Rx approval, is never discouraged by setbacks, and is always thinking ahead to future possible treatments, should the current one fail. I have a very complicated case and have dropped many other specialists through the years, but Dr Chen remains my my favorite, and I’ll stick with him as long as he continues practicing. I’ve never found a doctor who spends as much time listening, takes me seriously, and relentlessly fights for my improved quality of life. Those who speak negatively of him are more likely upset that they don’t get immediate answers, but in this field, it’s rarely that simple. I continue to invest time into Dr Chen because he continues to invest time and effort… into me. I find his sense of humor and willingness to chat as a human being refreshing. I always say that doctor visits are frustrating enough, so I refuse to see anyone I can’t laugh with while getting the job done. Dr Chen has found that perfect balance between lighthearted humor, casual discussion, and my fiercest ally in the battle to reclaim my mobility, decrease pain and inflammation, and return me to an acceptable quality of life. Because I’m a fierce self-advocate, I don’t always agree with what any doctor tells me. Dr Chen is someone that I feel comfortable challenging when I feel it’s necessary, but more importantly, he always welcomes this with a smile and works with me as part of my TEAM to make decisions we both feel are in my best interest. In a field where so many illnesses and pains are not always visible, it’s unfair to judge any rheumatologist based on one or two visits. If you invest the necessary time into getting a diagnosis, Dr Chen will invest his time and effort into helping you. Your doctor is not your instant fix, but your TEAM MEMBER in an often difficult journey, and working together as such is critical in your care. Dr Victor Chen has never given up on me in my in years of difficulties and setbacks, and this is why I will never give up on him, either, even when I become frustrated with the situation. I have many specialists due to the havoc autoimmunity has caused my body, but Dr Chen will always be my #1 favorite, the guy I respect and trust the most.

I think he is awesome I've been to a few specialists between kidneys and gout he is easy to talk too wait times are minimal and he's always there if I need him

I have been a patient of Dr. Chen for several years and have always had a good experience. His staff is excellent and have always been attentive to my needs. They have just moved to a new office facility at the new Northside Cherokee Hospital location and the offices are excellent. Very good parking with no charge. I would highly recommend Dr Chen for anyone seeking an very competent Rheumatologist.

Dr. Chen is rude and dismissive and acts bored when you describe your symptoms. He bragged about his upcoming vacation and asked lots of questions about my husband while ignoring my family history and my symptoms. His office never called with my test results and they mis-scheduled me twice.

I waited quite a long time to get in to see Dr. Chen about being tested for Sjogrens. There are several different test that need to be run to diagnose this disease. After waiting 2 months to see him I voiced my concerns and symptoms. I was rushed and not even examined. He spent about 5 minutes with me and sent me for blood test. 11 vials of blood were taken. I had to call his office for the results and was told I was only tested for 3 things and that I tested negative for Sjogren's throgh the blood test. Patients must go through a battery of test to be diagnosed. Even though a blood test is negative does not mean that you don't have it, there are several more test needed to diagnose it which he neglected to do. He dismissed me. Even if it wasn't Sjogren's what are causing these symptoms? He did not care enough to find out. The waiting room time is ridiculous and he has a lot to learn about treating an ill, scared patient. I wouldn't go back to him if you paid me.

Dr. Chen explained things very well to me. He really cares for hi patients.

I saw Dr. Chen recently after being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. He spend time with me and explained things in a way that made it easy for me to understand. I am now pain free and forever grateful! Sometimes I did have to wait, but he is worth it!
