Dr. Surabhi Arjunan, MD

Doctor Surabhi Arjunan is a life saver! My mom, 74 years old at the time, was experiencing extreme joint and muscle pains and stiffness all over her body. Her primary care doctor at Kaiser referred her to the Rheumatology department. We saw one male doctor who was incredibly dismissive of her pain and symptoms - which resulted in unnecessary prolonged agony and pains for my mom which ended in an urgent care. We were so disappointed that we decided to get a second opinion from a different doctor in the same department - which happened to be Dr. Arjunan. What a gift she was from day 1. On our first appointment, she sat and listened intently to my mom’s complaints. She also knew that the priority was to ease her pain ASAP - which at this time were going on for almost 4 months - so she moved quickly with prescribing Prednisone while we wait for tests and diagnosis. Within 24 hours of taking Prednisone, her pain decreased by half and by 4 days, her pain was almost gone completely. My… mom ended up being formally diagnosed with PMR and were continued to be prescribed Prednisone to treat and manage her symptoms. Dr. Arjunan continues to treat my mom with high level of care, empathy and patience… prioritizing her wellbeing as a patient and treating her like family. PMR and other autoimmune diseases are very tricky to diagnose and treat and truly requires a doctor that is highly detail-oriented, willing to work hard in finding all options and empathetic along the way. We are so blessed to have found an advocate and physician in Dr. Arjunan and highly, HIGHLY recommend her.

Some of her physical clinical observations were not actually there, but she still noted them in my chart. She didn't seem to be talking to me as the patient. She ordered a lot of bloodwork and wanted me to "try out" a medicine despite negative bloodwork and no clear reason to try it other than seeing what might happen.

I was referred to my PCP to schedule me for a procedure. My PCP didn't understand why I was referred back to him because now he would have to get results and forward them to Dr. Arjunan, slowing the process plus I had to pay ano th ER copay just to see him to write the orders. My last visit I thought they forgot me. I was taken the the exam room and waited well over 30 minutes for Dr. Arjunan to come in (this does not include waiting time in the waiting area). Today I received a. I'll from lab Corp for blood work that was ordered without my knowledge. Dr . Arjunan is nice and I respect her opinion but my time is valuable to me as well as well as the additional money that I have had to pay that could have been avoided.

Dr. Arjunan is a nice doctor and her staff are very nice. However, her wait times are ridiculous!!!! I have been seeing her for over a year now and usually have appointments every 4 to 6 weeks. She has NEVER been on time. One time, I was her first appointment of day, I was taken to the room on time, we passed her in the hall, and still she was late to the appointment by 45 minutes. Another time, she was hours behind.
