There needs to be more awareness that sometimes after a hip replacement, ongoing pain is not “normal healing.” In some cases, the implant can be positioned in a way that irritates or rubs against tendons, creating severe hip flexor and iliopsoas tendon pain. Patients deserve to be heard when they say something feels wrong. I went to Dr. Burke for my first hip replacement, and for an entire year I lived in excruciating pain. I had my hip drained, underwent multiple injections, and repeatedly tried to explain that something else was wrong — but I felt completely dismissed and ignored. Finally, I went to the Cleveland Clinic and met with Dr. Patel and his team. They immediately recognized what was happening and explained that this complication can occur. They performed a tendon release procedure, and the relief was life-changing. Now I am 12 days post-op from my second hip replacement with Dr. Patel and the Cleveland Clinic team, and they proactively addressed my hip flexor during… surgery to help prevent the same issue. My recovery has been incredible. Dr. Burke, you should be ashamed of the way you treated a patient who was suffering and begging to be heard. No patient in excruciating pain should ever be brushed aside or made to feel ignored. I will continue sharing my experience so others know to advocate for themselves and seek second opinions when something doesn’t feel right.

Dr. Burke replaced my hip in 2018. One month ago he replaced my right knee. The hip replacement was excellent. It appears the knee will be also. After vigorous PT have already been cleared to drive, swim, bike and golf. We be cautious before attempting. Dr. Burke has blessed me with two excellent surgical results. He is a superb orthopedic surgeon. His entire staff is very helpful with all aspects of pre and post-surgery.

Dr.Burke performed my Hip surgery 4 years ago, cracked my Femur during the procedure which caused a prolonged recovery. After 4 years I am still in pain with complications that impact on my daily life. He was very cold and uncaring and I would never recommend him.

I saw Dr.on Sept. 20. no complaints for dr. it took me a month to get the appointment, also I waited in a room for 1hour 15 min. this is not good something is wrong with centerlized schedueling.

I did a total hip replacement with Dr. Burke over a year ago. From that surgery it left me with debilitating pain. I had my hip drained twice I had seromas and I had to Cortizone injections into the hip flexor. I told him that something was wrong and I was in excruciating pain after the surgery. upon my one-year follow up, I went in crying explaining to him that it was hard for me to walk. I couldn’t exercise and I am a 54 year old extremely fit woman. He told me I needed more time to heal. It has been a year and told me to try acupuncture. I told him that please isn’t there anything else you can do something is not right . He just looked at me and said your joint looks fine. I ended up pursuing Dr. Patel at the Cleveland clinic who then intern told me that my hip flexor was rubbing on my implants. It could be either the implants cup was too big or that it was not placed correctly. He then sent me to his partner and I ended up having hip flexor release surgery which then in time got… me out of pain. Why Dr. Burke not acknowledge that something was wrong. All I wanted him to do is fix it and he basically dismiss me. I’ve asked Dr. Burke to call me he’s ignored to call me. I would never ever recommend him to anyone and I would 100% go straight to the Cleveland clinic. I’m sorry I ever went to him for a consultation.

Hip replacement. After now, eighteen months, I have a mixed feeling, motion on my new hip is good, not perfect but good; but the pain is still there. According to the faculty everything should be in order after 12 months, but that is not the case. Follow up not as good as expected. Disappointing and frustrating.

Dr. Burke was recommended to me by my foot doctor and I am glad I used him. He is very funny and professional. He has years of experience, especially with older athletes. He worked with retired NFL players so I knew he would be good. I had one knee done and if a few years, I'll have the other one done.

Doctor Burke. is rude and picks and chooses the surgery's he wants to do. He offers no direction as to what you need to do to be able for him to work on you and just keeps pushing out appointments rather then addressing the issue. Do not recommend. I am seeing another Doctor and getting the surgery I need in 3 weeks rather then "see me in another 6 weeks and we will see" Very poor doctoring.

I hurt might right hip in 2016 playing golf. It started as groin pain so I thought it would eventually go away. Since it never did, two years later I went for x-rays at my old doctors ortho office and discovered I had advanced osteoarthritis. He no longer did surgeries and recommended I have surgery with a doctor who did the anterior hip replacement surgery because of the quicker recovery. After asking around there were numerous recommendations for Dr. Burke. I researched Dr. Patel, Dr. Leone and Dr. Burke on line. Ultimately decided on Dr. Burke and very happy I did. Had my hip replacement one month ago at Florida Medical Center. Both the doctor and hospital were very professional and explained everything that I would go through. To date they were right on target. 2-3 hours after surgery I was up walking with a walker. Released the next day with a walker and cane. Used the walker for a day or two. Used the cane for about 10 days for balance only. Only used the pain… pills one time when going to P/T 2 days after surgery and not knowing what to expect. Never really had any pain. However, the upper leg was swollen for about 2 weeks and that made it difficult to walk with good balance. P/T lasted 4 weeks. Drove after 10 days. Now I walk 15-20 miles per week, ride bike and started swimming again. I am 60 y/o and cannot wait to get back on the golf course. The doctor's office said to take it slow but I should be able to hit balls after 6 weeks and play in another month or so. I would highly recommend Dr. Burke. Not real warm and fuzzy but certainly a great surgeon. Please pay attention to the instructions from his office and the hospital staff. Once the scar tissue at the top of my leg resolves, it should feel like new.

Dr. Burke's professionalism & exceptional skill has exceeded my expectations. I did a lot of research trying to find a surgeon I could feel totally comfortable with and confident in. I finally found Dr Burke and his entire staff. Jeanette, his Surgical Assistant is amazing. Dr. Burke & his practice are in a class of their own way up at the top. Dr. Burke is the "Master of Anterior Approach Hip Replacements". I was home the next day with very little pain. I advanced the 2nd week with out-patient PT and walking with a cane. Scar totally healed in 3 weeks. and by the 5th week I was out dancing. Thank you, Dr. Burke, for changing my life.
