Extremely Disappointing — One of the Worst Physical Exams I’ve Ever Had This was my first time seeing Dr. Polson, and it will absolutely be my last. I came to this appointment for one very specific reason: I have not had a physical examination in several years, and I wanted a thorough, comprehensive evaluation of my overall health. Instead, I got what felt like a five-minute drive-through physical. The appointment was so rushed that I honestly wondered if the doctor had somewhere else he needed to be. The actual examination consisted of checking my ears and throat, listening to my lungs and abdomen, and having me provide a urine sample. That was essentially it. No thorough physical. No comprehensive assessment. No sense that there was any real effort to evaluate my overall health. And then came the comment that really bothered me. Dr. Polson told me, “You look too healthy for a physical exam.” Excuse me? Since when does a patient have to look unhealthy before they deserve a… proper physical? That statement was incredibly dismissive and, in my opinion, completely inappropriate for a medical professional. I came to a doctor precisely because I wanted to make sure I was healthy. Looking healthy is not a substitute for actually being evaluated. I kept my mouth shut during the appointment, but I absolutely did not appreciate that comment. I have had physical examinations before, and I have never had one handled in approximately five minutes. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I was asking for the basic level of care I expected when scheduling a physical after several years without one. Instead, I felt rushed, dismissed, and completely underwhelmed by the level of attention I received. What makes this experience even more frustrating is that preventative care is supposed to be about identifying potential problems before they become serious. You don't wait until someone looks sick to take their health seriously. If this is what Dr. Polson considers a “thorough physical examination,” then our definitions of thorough are dramatically different. I will not be returning to this provider, and I cannot recommend him to anyone who expects their doctor to actually take the time to examine them. I walked into the appointment expecting professional medical care and walked out feeling like I had barely been examined at all. Patients are not supposed to have to look sick enough to earn a doctor's attention. I came in wanting answers and a proper evaluation. What I got was a rushed five-minute exam and a comment that should never have been made to a patient in the first place. Needless to say, I’ll be finding another provider—one who understands that a patient’s health is more important than getting them in and out of the office as quickly as possible.

Dr. Polson is patient and kind. He is knowledgeable and gave me a helpful second look at some labwork. I trust his opinion.
