Dr. Dwight Thomas Kemp, DO

Excellent doctor! Experienced, skilled, communicative and compassionate. He listened, he spent the right amount of time with me, he understood how afraid I was and when I jumped around like a fish out of water, cussing like a sailor, when he was administering my cortisone injection, he had steady and unflinching hands and confidence that soothed me as much as possible. The entire staff at Spring Mills and Berkeley were equally as competent and caring. All bases were covered. This is medical care at its finest and I can assure you, you will be in the very best of hands.

He was short and cruel. He told me that he makes very little money giving injections and he do a knee replacement and a shoulder surgery. He looked right at me and said "stop wasting my time if you want injections in your shoulder and knee" even though I benefited from injections every 6 months.

Dr. Kemp told me to lose 50lbs before he'd do a much needed knee replacement. I lost the 50lbs in 7 mos. and he congratulated me and then asked me to make a preop appt. and handed me the list of tests I would need to have done pre-operatively. One hour before my appt. to set up the surgery date, his nurse calls and cancels the appt. She said that his notes read that I needed to lose ANOTHER 50lbs!! He never discussed this with me at any point. I spoke with him via phone and he was uncaring and aloof. He did not own up to the fact that he never discussed me needing to lose more weight. I asked him how a patient with severely arthritic knees could lose 100 lbs when they are in pain and cannot exercise? He said "A lot of overweight people with bad knees are in the same boat". I told him that my sister, who is overweight, just had a successful knee replacement in S.C. He responded, "Maybe you should have your knees done in South Carolina!" I am sure this all occurred because I am a… medicaid patient and he may not have known this until he reviewed my chart. He just strings you along so that he can say that he treats medicaid recipients. He has no compassion whatsoever.

The first time I met with Dr. Kemp, my husband and I were impressed by how he took time to listen and to answer questions. Dr. Kemp performed a total knee replacement on my right knee in November, 2017. By the time i left the hospital, the bend in my knee was 120 degrees, Within 4 weeks, the bend was 135! I am walking without pain and healing quickly. Thank you, Dr. Kemp!

Dr. Kemp is an excellent with diagnosis. His work : surgery is very good. I would recommend him as one of the top orthopedic surgery Doctors in the Winchester Virginia area His manner with patients is professional and with care and ease. He is sincere and enjoys his work and we the patient know and respect him for this. Went back to him again and the same. Excellent diagnosis and working with me to better health. My hands function because of his care.

I had knee replacement surgery two months ago. I had an appointment with Dr Kemp a month later. I was sheduled fotr another appointment two months after that, but I didn't want to wait that long. I was getting discouraged and frustrated with my progress. I rescheduled for a month sooner. I told the doctor about my mental state over my progress and he was totally understanding. Terrific bedside manner so to speak. I left his office feeling much better than when I went in. I apologized for going in sooner than my original appointment and he told me that that's what he's there for. I was getting depressed before I went in and left a lot better.

I fell down some stairs and broke bones in both ankles while on vacation. I was taken to Winchester for treatment. Dr. Kemp performed the surgery needed on my right ankle. When I returned home to Florida and a local Orthopedic surgeon, he told me what Dr Kemp did was EXACTLY what he would've done. That gave me quite a lift--kudos to Dr Kemp!!!

Dr. Kemp is a great doctor. he is very nice and talks to you like a perosn and really gets to know you as a person. i shattered my right elbow and he was great he talked me through everything and everything he said he was going to do he did. in my eyes he is a great physician. he has influenced me to specialize in bones. i am going to med school and his kindness helped me make up my mind. if you have a chance to see him take it on your first chance!!!!!
