Dr. Dzifa Sena Kpodzo, MD

About four months ago I decided to have a breast reduction due to complications I was having with slightly larger breasts. I've had a plastic surgery procedure done in the past but my former surgeon didn't accept my insurance. So I reluctantly set out to find a new surgeon which was very stressful for me. I understand how important it is to not only have a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, but one who knows his/her craft and knows how to deal with each patient individually based on their particular needs. I went on to my insurance company's website and I was pretty much shooting in the dark. I read reviews for several surgeons listed but, of the ones I read, I didn't feel like they were the right fit for me. I came across Dr. Kpodzo's name so I went on Google, of course, to do my "research". Well, although I was able to read her bio and educational/career background, I wasn't able to find any reviews from breast reduction patients or see pictures of her work. I am one who will read… tons of reviews (both good and bad) to get a good idea of who I'm dealing with and pictures, especially for plastic surgery, are definitely a must. However, contrary to all of that, I just had a good, settling feeling about Dr. Kpodzo. I scheduled an appointment and went in for a consultation. She was amazing! She was very thorough, she explained everything to me, she was patient and answered all of my questions AND she showed me some before and after photos. After getting approval from my insurance company, my surgery was scheduled. I went in the day of surgery and Dr. Kpodzo made sure that the hospital took care of me and she was very laser-focused on me and making sure everything was in place for a successful surgery. Fast-forward a few hours later, everything went extremely well with the surgery. Despite my pre-planning and attempting to make adequate preparations post-surgery I didn't have anyone to take care of me at home. Dr. Kpodzo asked me several times and stressed the importance of having someone help me for at least the first few days so she probably would have made me postpone my surgery had she known I would be home alone immediately afterwards. But I didn't know myself. Anywho, because of the amazing work she did, I had the most uneventful and fairly pain-free recovery of any procedure of the same magnitude that I've every had. One of the reasons I had not considered getting a breast reduction in the past is because of all the stories I heard about how painful it is and how awful the healing process was. Not my experience at all. I am 8 weeks post-surgery and my breast look amazing (but they pretty much look just as amazing from about day 10...once the tape and all fell off)! My incisions are perfect and flat and I'm really excited to see the completely finished work over the next few months. Dr. Kpodzo provided very detailed instructions about what I should and should not do and what to expect at different intervals during the healing process. I am SO very happy that I chose Dr. Kpodzo. She did an absolutely amazing job on my breast and I couldn't be happier. Now I just have to post reviews on all of the plastic surgery and medical sites so that people will know that she is definitely the one you want if you're considering breast reduction surgery. She was great support when Dr. Kpodzo wasn't available and she made sure that I was taken care of and all my questions were answered.
