Unfortunately, my experience was much different than what you see from others below. I had surgery almost one year ago, it was a basic cyst removal and on the day of surgery Dr. Gates seemed to be in a bad mood and quite frustrated. He was in a rush, and I had asked him a simple question prior to being brought into the OR in which he was annoyed to even answer. I was referred to him by my primary doctor and my OB/GYN for surgery. After surgery I was in extreme pain and his nurse called him again he had the same attitude. Later that evening around 8pm the pain from the carbon dioxide was excruciating. I called his after hours line and he had the same attitude he had all day. On day two of recovery, I had the same issue I was in excruciating pain for 72 hours in total but I believe too much carbon dioxide was pumped into me during the laparoscopic procedure. My pain tolerance is very high but this was unbearable. He was angry, nasty and rude to me for bothering him after hours. Zero… empathy. I was in shock because I had always heard such amazing things about this doctor. It took me a while to decide to write this review, however I feel he rushed through my surgery because he was very sloppy with my surgical scars. I typically heal very well, and the size of the scar above my belly button has not healed properly and my stomach looks a bit distorted from how it should look as compared to other healthy individuals who have the same surgery that heal nicely from laparoscopic surgeries. I’ve had a few consultations specifically with my dermatologist and other professionals- there is nothing I can do in regards to fixing the size of the scar above my belly button and the way my stomach healed around it. I’m extremely disappointed in Dr. Gates behavior and I almost felt as if he was having a nervous break down or maybe taking on too much work because the way he treated me was not OK. I’m speaking up because I know many others are afraid to speak up for themselves. If I educate people on my experience and I’m an advocate for myself, maybe if I can help one other person decide to get a second opinion then settling for Dr. Gates then this was well worth it.

I’ve been a patient of Dr Gates for many years and couldn’t ask for more in a gynecologist/surgeon and his staff. Dr Gates is brilliant, kind, respectful, and has a concerned and calming bedside manner, as well as being a fabulous surgeon. His office is well-run, and the staff is courteous, friendly and kind, like old friends. Dr Gates and staff listen to the patient and are always available when needed. Appointments are easy to make and timely, and office wait times are brief. I am an RN and very picky about my choice of physicians, and I have refused offers of more affordable insurance plans because I would have to give up Dr Gates.

I was treated by this incredibly compassionate doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs this type of specialized care. Dr Gates is the bomb!

Dr. Gates was very professional, personable, attentive & a good listener. Asked questions, expained the issues at hand and related concerns for procedure etc; His Office Staff Denise, Laura, Julie etc; were outstanding, helpful, kind & caring. Such a pleasure to feel reassured and welcome that you are in good hands. Dr Gates is outstanding and has good bed side manners. I would highly recommend Dr. Gates to woman looking for a compassionate, excellent & experience Doctor. Thank you Dr Gates

I have been seeing Dr. Jason Gates for years. He is easy to talk to. And he knows what he is doing. If you need a gyn specialist, I would give him a try. He is an oncologist gynecologist, and he Excellent!!!

I went to Dr. Gates with a mild abd pain and mid cycle bleeding. Thanks to his expertise and care I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and am now five years out from what is often a very poor prognosis. He and all of his staff have been professional, friendly and caring. Really an A+ team!

Dr. Gates is the only surgeon who is allowed to operate on me. He is confident, competent and skilled. As I read the negative reviews from a few women here, I have to say that it seems that their complaints were more so pertaining to having their ego's stroked or maybe a warm greeting. No..ladies your not here for that..get over yourselves. You are doing yourself a great disservice by taking personal offence and walking out because someone didn't greet you with a warm smile. I have been with this Dr. and his staff for over 4 years. If you want someone to save your life, here...it's here that you will find the help you need. Dr. Gates will devote himself to your case. He will. Just remember ladies, you are not the only patient he has. We have to share him. We have to understand and be kind to him and his staff...mom used to say that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar...if you find yourself with a referral to Dr. Gates...just know that the doctor that passed you his name… gave you the BEST. Go to his office, drop your ego at the door. Keep in mind that we are here because we need help and we are ALL scared. He has saved my life twice now. He is an angel truly an angel with a set of white wings under his lab coat..once in a while he drops one of his feathers...they are pure white. I can't imagine how his wife must feel to be married to such a great man. Proud I'm sure.

Recently went for an appointment short secretary at the window is very rude I came to this office because I see him in the hospital all the time but when I got to the office the secretary at the window black hair and short was very rude took myself to another doctor and they were great office staff was better..... remember good customer service starts as soon as you walk in the door my experience was poor.
