Dr. Ebonie Michele Vazquez, MD

I was admitted to UCLA Harbor for a severe manic episode after leaving an abusive relationship. I was 22 years old and was sent there against my will by Police. Dr. Ebonie Vasquez was my Psychiatric Dr. She seemed friendly and caring at our first visit and said she wanted to help me. But that quickly changed over my 8 day visit. As she got in contact with my family members to learn more about my illness, I noticed that she began to look at me like I was a wild and dangerous animal. She would avoid me in the hall when we would see each other and when she finally gave the okay for me to leave that facility, I was so happy I asked if I could give her a hug. She got upset and in a very hostile tone said "Absolutely Not! This is not appropriate patient/Dr behavior!" I was shocked. She made it seem like I was some pervert trying to touch her in a sexual way. Maybe SHE needs to be on psych meds. I would NEVER recommend her to anyone suffering with mental illness. She prescribed me over… 5 medications and over drugged me to make me numb. I was only 120 pounds and I told her and the nurses I didn't want to be heavily sedated. The response I got was that I would be stuck in that mental hospital unless I did as I was told and took every drug they gave me ( without my consent). I am 28 years old now and a mother of a two year old. I am a great parent and contributor to our society. I don't take any medication and have not had any bipolar symptoms since my breakdown in 2009. I believe I was misdiagnosed and was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder from my emotional, physical, and sexual abused past. Dr. Vasquez is not a caring person and shouldn't be working with mentally ill people if she can't be kind or do her job with empathy. She walks around and looks down on her patients. Its disgusting. Horrible experience!
