The best honest doctor I ever met.

Dr. Gogek treated me against my wishes when I was forced to attend Spring Ridge Academy as a so-called troubled teenager, in 1998. Prior to being imprisoned at the school, I was prescribed and taking large, regular doses of benzodiazapines for anxiety disorder. Dr. Gogek immediately removed all of the medication I was currently taking and instead treated me with homeopathic drugs. It is well known and widely accepted in the medical community that benzodiazapines need to be tapered to avoid dangerous and serious side-effects. Dr. Gogek ignored this and I suffered terrible and debilitating side effects for which I received no follow up treatment. Avoid this "doctor" at all costs.

Dr. Gogek closed his practice in 2013 and even before that was mostly working at treatment centers and had very few private patients. However, in 2015 he published a book arguing against the legalization of marijuana. The negative reviews on this site posted long after he closed his practice seem to all be written by marijuana users who never saw Dr Gogek as patients. The book, btw, is called Marijuana Debunked, and it gets four stars on Amazon despite several one star reviews by people who again don't seem to have read the book.

The have been seeing Dr. Gogek for a few months now & he is very good. He listens to what I have to say & makes proper medication recommendations. As for people complaining about his dog, most educated people know that dogs are extremely beneficial at easing anxiety, lowering blood pressure, & numerous other health benefits. And to the ones whining about his lack of support for marijuana, it sounds like what they were looking for was a dealer not a doctor.

I don't understand why Dr. Ed is so against the use of marijuana when he prescribes black widow venom and other toxic (homeopathic remedies). Tried to convince my wife to use another of these remedies and it almost put her in the hospital for anaphylatic shock. Thank God for epipens! Problem is that we had to shell out another $300 to get another one. Thanks, Eddy

I saw Dr. Gogek for two or three appointments years ago. I had forgotten his name, but remembered his face when I googled him researching 2018 candidates for Arizona State Representative. I felt like he didn't listen to me and directed the sessions towards what he wanted to talk about or what he "guessed" my issues were. I needed anti-depressants and he told me he would only prescribe them IF I gave his homeopathic quackery a chance first. He was very very insistent on the homeopathy, despite me telling him that there is no scientific basis for it and that I didn't think it would do anything. Of course it didn't do anything, but when I went back, he wanted to try a different homeopathic remedy instead of prescribing an anti-depressant as he has promised. As others have noted, he kept his dog in the office, which I felt was very unprofessional. Some people have allergies and some people don't like dogs, but the bottom line is when you're paying $$$ to see a psychiatrist, you want… the 45 minutes to be about you, not the doctor's dog. All in all, a bad experience and frankly I am surprised that he is still in business and is now running for State Representative.

I did not connect well at all with this doctor, he referred me to "cranial osteopathy" which from my research is a pseudo science. His personal skills are lacking especially for a psychiatrist. I didn't feel comfortable with him at all, felt as if I was on trial. I miss Dr. Dekker (who Gogek replaced) who was an excellent psychiatrist at 2nd chance recovery but unfortunately he moved onto other things. I would not recommend this doctor.

Had two appointments He was 20-30 minutes late for both and it appeared I was the first appointment for the day. I explained whyIwasthere.He got some history and then kept asking me the same question over and over. I didn't know what he was getting at and he didn't expand. I felt badgered and not helped at all. I left after about 30 minutes. This was destructive.
