Dr. Edison Paxton Mcdaniels, MD

He was very good with me he wonderfull with treating me he the only doctor that really listen to me and i think he really knew i was tell him the truth how bad i would be in pain he would do anything he could to keep me from hurting he done my surgery i never had a doctor that was in recovery holding my hand when i woke up he was standing by my side till i woke up to make sure i was okay that meant alot he tokd me at my last visit if i ever need him and i started haveing trouble again just call him and that he gone i have been in miserable pain its worst then before and no one will help try to contact him none of the doctor at nea dont care i have cry to them couse me hurting and they dont care at all i dont know what to do i wish and pray someone coukd help me find out how to contact dr mcdaniel i cant live like this in bad pain everyday and no one help me try to find out how to contact him i need to realky talk to him he knows me well enough to know if iam hurting bad he would know… please if any one can help me found out how to contact him please help iam very desperate that's how bad I'm in pain I really need to somehow contact Dr McDaniel and talk to him so please I'm asking for anyone out there's help

This guy literally told me I was patient 4,999--and that is how he treated me. Like a number. Then he told me I shouldn't be in pain because I was so young (28). Um...okay, but, like, I am, so... Maybe, because of my age, he thought I was after painkillers? I don't know, but I felt vindicated a little when my MRI showed the largest ruptured they had ever seen at that hospital. He made me feel like I shouldn't have had this happen, and that it was somehow my fault or choice. Besides just being a complete jerk with no bedside manner, he also messed up my first diskectomy and I could barely move for the required 6 weeks of "healing" time I had to wait to have him butcher me all over again. What a mistake. I wish I could co back in time and talk to a lawyer, because this guy butchered me and I'll never be the same. I ended up having to have a fusion, but it was the head of neurosurgery who stepped in to perform THAT surgery, and said the scar tissue was so bad he had to remove some of it… (or something along those lines...I don't know I was in the hospital for four days on morphine). Anyway, I call him the Butcher of Guantanamo Bay (my husband calls him Eddy every time he refers to him because this guy should NOT have DR. in front of his name. Oh God, and he's also an author. I can just imagine how puffed up he must be. His blog is called something like surgeonwriter.com. I saw he posted a review from Amazon at how impressed this one lady was by his gothic horror novel. OMG because half of it is probably true. I wouldn't doubt that this guy has a dungeon of horrors in his basement. Look out for this guy if you don't want to be disabled for the rest of your life.

Dr. McDaniels II, misdiagnosis my husband and left him with an infection. This doctor is very unethical and I would not recommend him to no one.

I am 21 years old. I was terrified because people my age do not typically have to have this type of surgery, as well as I had never had surgery before. I thought my surgery would be months after my meeting with him, but it was four days later. He calmed my nerves, and then took 100% of my pain away. I am now free to live the life I want because of Dr. McDaniels, and for that I am forever grateful.

Accurate diagnosis, quick surgery date, fixed my problem and improved my quality of life tremendously. Highly recommend his work.

He has a great bedside manner and was wonderful with my husband who had broken his back. He was very reassuring.

Dr. Mcdaniels performed a back surgery on me, which ended up with me getting an infection. I don't blame him for the infection, but when I was admitted the 1st time, he refused to come down to see me saying my spasms in my back had nothing to do with the surgery (at that time the infection didn't show up in the blood), even though all of a sudden my scar started draining a lot for the first time in 2 weeks after the surgery (which he never came to look at) sending his PA instead who just sent me home. Two hours later I was readmitted into ER (the infection showed up, my scar still draining alot). When he did come see me the first thing he said to me is "you got this because your fat" and that I was the only one this has ever happened to in his care. While I was in the hospital being treated for this infection, I saw his PAs almost all the time, only seeing him a couple times, and each time I saw him, he was rude and treated me like an inconvenience. Afterwards, when… going to his office, even though he had already seen twice before that my scar had closed, he asked me if my scar had closed yet. He also asked if I had the xrays with me (even though he hadn't ordered any) and when I told him this he said "good, you shouldn't get xrays because they won't show us anything." He said some other things during this appointment that made no sense to my husband or me regarding my medications and what he had previously said would happen after this point. At the end he released me to a different doctor's care (that doctor was only taking care of one of my medications and he just dumped everything onto her without talking to her about it). So, he got rid of me as soon as he could. When my husband and I left that last appointment, we were dumbfounded. We felt like he thought he was talking to a different patient. For being the "only patient he ever had go through this" he seemed to not remember who I was or what he had previously told us. We thought he was going to call us later and tell us that he got us mixed up with someone else. Although I thought it was wrong of him to dump me and my case (it's been a long aftercare case) onto another doctor, I am so greatful he did. It was the only thing he did that I was pleased with. I would not have been able to work with him any longer than I had. The whole time he talked to us like we were beneath him. After the "fat" comment, I felt really uncomfortable around him because I knew exactly what he thought of me as a patient. Again, my husband and I never blamed him for the infection, that is a risk you take with the surgery. All we wanted was for him to help us through the pain I was having while going through it, and to be our doctor after surgery as well. All we got from him was a doctor who did our surgery--when he was done with that, he was done being our doctor.

My son saw him for a plagiocephaly helmet. Dr McDaniels had a very poor bedside manner and did not seem to interested in the process of helmet use. He was very short with his answers and despite the fact my son was progressing very fast in the helmet he would not consider removing it sooner than typical wear "because most kids wear it til one year of age". His lack of interst in my son and the helmet process was very unnerving. His attitude made me feel like he felt we were wasting his time. We do not see him any longer. Very unhappy with the care he provided.

Dr. McDaniels is a great person. He was able to diagnose my sons condition right away. He didn't sugar coat the situation & was very thoughtful. He went into the visit telling us at the beginning that we should have a 2nd opinion since he had never performed one of the surgery that my son will need on a child his age. I thought that was very courageous of him. He put my sons best interests first. He seems very bright & knows what he's talking about. I would definitely recommend him to others!
