Dr. Edmund Cheng Dy, MD

I would like to keep the confidentiality of my spouses's name, however we had an experience very similar to the other individual that posted on this review board. He was terribly condescending and had huge inconsistencies between what he told me and what was actually happening with the care of my spouse. When my spouse told me after his first meeting with Dr Dy in an inpatient setting that he didn't want to see him again, it was hard to believe my spouses' strong opinion of Dr Dy at first. I thought it may just be part of his mental state. However, once we compared notes with what Dr Dy told me on the phone and how he treated my spouse, as supported by the testimony of one of the witnessing nurses, it was evident that this man may have some sort of Narcissistic complex. I can not discuss the details of our issues with this Physician, but it seems that if he is doubted or finds anything less than compliances he is rather cunning at turning the circumstances against the better good of… his patient and their family. We did not feel that he worked towards keeping proper communication with myself or my spouse. Dr Dy is known for doing very early morning rounds, which do not encourage proper communication with patients that are already struggling with medication adjustments. Due to hospital protocol it is nearly impossible to get away from this man if he is assigned as your attending physician. However, I believe that his associates are very much aware of what could be at best a terrible bed side manner.

If you disagree with this man he will get back at you. He lies to your family members telling them that you need long term "treatment". I was sent to Winnebago because and only because he convinced my husband that I would be able to get the "treatment" I needed at this facility, this is after being hospitalized for 3 weeks already. After being transfered I found out that this is really nothing more than a holding facility and they offer no counseling of any kind in the intake area of Winnebago and you can be in intake for years before a bed can open up in another area. The only hope of getting treament is if you are a drug addict or alcoholic because that is a 90 day program. Fortunately I was discharged after 3 days because the doctor there was intelligent enough to know that I did not belong there. But this was done by Dy because I disagreed with his treatment path and tried to get another doctor. All out of spite
