Dr. Edward William Akeyson, MD

I am dismayed at the arrogant attitude displayed during my appointments. Dr. Akeyson implanted a spinal cord stimulator which has never really helped with my pain. For over a year, I have begged his PA and Dr. Akeyson multiple times to please schedule an appt with the manufacturer’s technician as this is the only person who can program my device. I met with Dr. Akeyson this week and told him I still am in incredible pain and he simply gave me the phone number to the manufacturer and told me to call them myself! Astounding, yet Dr. Akeyson continues to install this very same device with absolutely no beneficial follow up. I have reached out to hospital administration and Blue Cross to find a solution to this poor level of patient care. Hopefully it needn’t go any further.A patient still has basic medical rights and treatment standards in this modern era, and I will take every effort to make sure I am treated appropriately and others are aware of my experience.

I was losing all feeling and experiencing pain in my dominant hand. I saw an orthopedic doc and two other neurosurgeons who only performed the old school surgeries offered here in Knoxville. Then I was lucky to have found Dr Aykeyson who offers disc replacement. He munipulated his schedual because of the urgency and his staff were top notch. He replaced two of my cervical discs. I’m almost one year out from that surgery. I still experience tingling and have not regained the feeling in my hand, but the pain has gone away. He was honest with me by telling me I may never regain the feeling. I wish I’d found him sooner.

Thank you Dr. Akeyson I faced a wheel chair and after the surgery the next day I walked. their are no words that describe this feeling. Thank you for coming to see me on your own time. It has been 7 years and I need your help do to the condition that does not involve the surgery that was performed by you. If more surgery is required Dr Akeyson is the man to do the surgery.

Dr. Akeyson did and achieved everything I needed and everything he said he could do and my lower back was a mess. Walked and walked out 3hours later and my life had been changed for the better.

On my first visit to this Dr., I was absolutely shocked a Dr could be so rude, hateful and downright mean. Every time I opened my mouth, he just attacked everything I was saying. He didn't listen at all to anything I was saying. He said I didn't bring any paperwork when he had it all right there on the screen in front of him. If my visit was the rule, I don't see how he even has one patient.

Dr Akeyson neurosurgeon First visit today for spinal stenosis and spondylosis and severe carpal tunnel. He was so unbelievably rude to me, I left in tears. All I wanted to know was what was wrong according to the EMG and MRI results. He was incredibly condescending saying things like, "I just told you that!" I grew up in a medical family so I am familiar with medical terms. He personifies the reason I never go to a doctor unless something is very very wrong. My hands had been numb and painful for months before I sought help and this is what I get. I have found another neurosurgeon and he is wonderful. read less

I would highly recommend Dr. Akeyson to anyone with a surgical neurological issue who wants not only medical/surgical expertise and great results, but a human element as well.

Dr. Akeyson spent a lot of time taking my history and explaining options to me. He was very caring.
