Dr. Edward Joseph Bernacki, MD

BIOGRAPHY EDWARD J. BERNACKI, M.D., M.P.H. Dr. Edward J. Bernacki is Associate Professor of Medicine, Director, Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Department of Medicine and Executive Director of Health, Safety and Environment for the Johns Hopkins University. He is Chairman of the Johns Hopkins Institutions Joint Committee for Health, Safety and Environment. Ongoing research activities are conducted in the areas of clinical trials, occupational morbidity and mortality studies, analyses of costs and disability drivers in workers'' compensation and the design of systems to improve the quality of healthcare delivered to injured workers. Before coming to Hopkins, Dr. Bernacki held a variety of positions in industry, including Corporate Medical Director of United Technologies Corporation, Hartford, Connecticut and Corporate Vice President (Health, Safety and Environment) of Tenneco, Inc., Houston, Texas. He is most noted for work that relates to the use of Occupational …Medical Guidelines, the design, development and initiation of unique cost containment vehicles in the major medical and workers' compensation insurance arenas.
