Dr. Edward Chun-Kuan Chen

Dr. Chen is my primary physician, but I've been trying to switch to another. (once you start working with him, they don't want to switch you to another doctor in the same office). I think he's probably a nice enough person, but he doesn't pay attention. He either has too many other things on his mind, or he's just arrogant and doesn't think he needs to listen. It's like trying to talk to a brick wall. I've tried talking directly with him about my concerns, but he doesn't get it. Thankfully, I've been able to get some help from the nurse practitioner in the office, and I've turned to my chiropractor to answer medical questions. I'm sure he means well, but if you're someone who wants to make informed decisions about your health, I don't recommend Dr. Chen. If you want a doctor to do what he thinks is best and you don't want to talk about it, then he might be a good fit for you.

Not very personable or warm – just took notes on his computer the whole time. Made me feel uncomfortable when talking about certain topics and often times made me feel like he was judging or being accusatory. Overall, I opted to find a different doctor.

No follow up. Minimal time spent with patient. Treats symptoms, not the cause.

Dr. Chen spends more time typing information into the computer than he does attempting to understand my symptoms or even give a diagnosis. He rushed through appointments and does not spend enough time getting to know the patient.

Very confident with Dr Chen his help and professionalism. Very kind efficient front office.

A good listener who takes detailed notes and takes time to get back to you with analysis. Office is clean and well-maintained. I was concerned about an Asian accent but he speaks pefect English with no accent.

I was looking for a new doctor in the Kirkwood area and went to 2 or 3 doctor offices. They were average at best and I felt like the doctors really didn't care about my personal needs. I felt this way because they never asked or seemed to even care. I was looking for a doctor that actually cared about my needs. I found that doctor in Edward Chen. On my first visit, he asked me questions that not any other doctor asked. I could tell from the get go that he takes pride in listening to his patients and helping them in any way possible. After my first visit, I called my old doctors office to transfer to him. If you are looking for an excellent doctor, try Dr. Chen first and save yourself some time.
