Dr. Edward David Farber, PhD

I had to endure a parental evaluation with this unethical individual back in 2017. His report was a complete fabrication. He twisted what I said and at times made up assertions to fit his narrative and prevent me from moving to another State to escape from my abusive ex. My children were being neglected and psychologically abused by their narcissist father. He allowed my ex to perpetuate his abusive brainwashing. The ex used the pile of trash Farber put together to further alienate my children from me as he showed the report to my oldest; she was only 12 at the time. Today, 6 years later, I am estranged from her. I have a plethora of phone recordings and text messages demonstrating his intense parental alienation. Pure evil and that is the kind of individual Farber backs up. Protect your children and yourself by refusing to meet with this worthless individual. He will ruin your family. If you are court ordered to meet with him RECORD every single session as it is accepted as evidence… when you file a report with the Virginia State Medical Board.

Horrible. He hates dads but will give you a speech about how neutral he is. Don't believe him. This guy has been milking the legal system for a long time with all the referrals and instead of the best thing for the kid the answer is always the mom wins no matter how horrible she is. If you love your kids don't use him!

Ask him what HIPAA stands for and how the acronym is spelled. As he condescendingly speaks (and writes) poorly and mockingly of his a prospective client asking him about the PHI form in the VA State Bars' Virginia Family Law Quarterly article, Fall 2017, he states: The first appointment had already been cancelled. The patient said, “I looked you up and the positive reviews were mostly from females. You’re obviously against men and probably make recommendations in favor of custody of women. My lawyer saidI had to see you anyway because that was part of the agreement he made with the other lawyer, but they’re probably in cahoots anyway. They both went to law school together. The whole thing is a rip off.” In my first clinical meeting with this 44-year-old father of a 10-year-old girl, he questioned whether the blinking light of my office phone meant that I was recording him. He would not sign the new patient HIPPA health records form without talking first “to hislawyer and a couple of… other people.” Really? He This nutjob psychologist, who also failed to disclose that he was sanctioned years earlier for violating a federal law, violating HIPAA, can't even spell correctly??!! I guess in his mind, HIPPA is the feminine for HIPPO. He's also intimated his urges to surf children's social media accounts, as a stalker. A veiled ed Pedophile, really.

I am a licensed therapist. I have not had direct experience with Dr. Farber which I want to disclose up front. Instead I have 2 clients who are working with him for "reunification therapy". In hearing about their experience, I was taken back by what they were reporting. So I searched all forums for reviews from his clients. I am very sad and upset to hear your experiences, and extend my compassion to you. If you are a person receiving therapeutic services, your therapist commits to the ethics and standards of a licensing board and is held accountable to follow them. That means, being truthful, respectful, understanding supportive and unbiased, and listening to your perspective and needs. If working with coparents, the psychological professional is required to be fair and not influenced by money or a person of power. Anytime you have concerns about a medical professional, report them to the Virginia State Medical Board. Psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, etc.,… who follow best and honest practices, make you feel at ease, reassured and positive. They do not instill doubt; they instill a feeling of hope.

I strongly suggest that anyone who has been subject to Dr. Farber’s unethical behavior report him to the Virginia Department of Health Professionals. It is important that he be held publicly accountable for his actions by the licensing board.

Dr. Farber understands high conflict divorce and custody cases. He is reasonable and balanced in his approach to helping parents and children post divorce to reduce conflict. I would highly recommend Dr. Farber without any reservation! Anyone in this type of situation with their ex really should read his book too!

Dr Farber was a good facilitator in my co-parenting dissagreement. Did I like the outcome? Of course not, because it was a compromise! It was a fair compromise though, and I appreciated his professionality.

Warning: If you are in a contentious divorce, Dr. Farber will choose sides. He has that reputation with other professionals in his field as well. Other reviews online discuss his extreme arrogance and narcissism; those are dead on accurate. He also has no interest in what's best for the kids. His only interest is doing his psych assessment on the adults. And he will do all this at $310 an hour as well, which is absolutely outrageous for the poor service provided.
