Dr. Edward Jay Schwager, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Schwager for over a year. I liked him very much until my last and final visit. I asked if I could transfer my mental health prescriptions to him. He looked up and saw that the doctor I am seeing for that has been experimenting on different sleep aids for me. He told me that El Rio does not normally deal with...and he pointed to his head. Yes, I was offended. He couldn’t even say “mental illness”. Then he brought up bi-polar and I told him that was not my prognosis. He said “well if your not bipolar what ARE you” He rolled his eyes. This man is obviously uncomfortable with discussing mental illness which so many of us suffer from. I was embarrassed and appalled. I will no longer be going to El Rio, and I was a paying patient. So long to bad manners and an inept doctor.

Dr. Schwager is a caring, always listens, doctor.

Dr. Schwager has been our family doctor for 28 years. He has always shown care, compassion and understanding. He truly is a excellent doctor.

Explains in detail what the plan of care is, is genuine in his attitude and professionalism. Absolute trust in him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Schwager's for more than 20 years. He always takes the time I need for whatever problem I am having. He will also address other issues I am having other than the one I have gone to see him about. I can't imagine going to another doctor.

Dr Schwager is a wonderful diagnostician who does NOT just depend on test results for his plan and follow up care. He has always spent the time I or my family needs. He is an excellent Doctor and highly interested in diabetes care and treatment.
