When I was referred to Dr. Schottenstein for cataract surgery, I, too, checked out the reviews here, and reading the negative comments on the waiting time certainly left me apprehensive. But, after having been his patient for the last three months, and after having had the surgeries in both eyes, I can’t say enough amazing things about my experience. Yes, the wait can be long, tops an hour or so, but it’s only due to the care and attention Dr. Schottenstein gives to each patient. As cliched as it sounds, it’s worth the wait. And the staff — if you prefer a cold, impersonal, corporate, and sterile environment, this is not the place for you. The people who work in Dr. Schottenstein’s office are just great. They dare to have personalities, and they are as determined to put each patient at ease as the good doctor. Big picture, the wait is nothing compared to what you get in return. I couldn’t have been in better hands. Highly recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that he was the only doctor that examined me. He answered all of my questions and that one on one feeling was amazing! I wouldn’t trust the health of my eyes to anyone but Dr. Schottenstein.

NEVER AGAIN! AVOID AVOID AVOID! I have a stye on my left eye. The receptionist was polite but the other lady working in the office was really RUDE and not friendly. The only person who was friendly was the intern. When I finally saw the Dr. Edwin Schottenstein he was cold and rude. Furthermore, when I told him he was hurting me he continued and that bothered me. He also dropped the needle and sarcastically told the nurse to bring another one as he yelled in the office that I made him dropped it. AVOID!

The most traumatic experience I have ever had. I had to wait for 1 hr and when I asked the staff why it was taking so long, they rolled their eyes and were discourteous. The technician was nice and good, though she did not transfer my files to the Dr well. I waited for 2 1/2 hrs before I saw the doctor. They put local anesthetic 4 times in my eyes and used very archaic machines on my eyes. My eyes have been red since 24 hrs and were hurting all night.

The doctor is treating me for glaucoma. He is very friendly and professional. He always walks me through all the procedures, so that I know exactly what is going on at all times. My vision has greatly improved, and I highly recommend him.

On my first visit I waited EIGHT HOURS, YES, EIGHT HOURS !!! On my second visit I waited FIVE HOURS. I NEVER WENT BACK. He is NOT the only guy in town. The so called "secretairs" are just cheap teen agers. However, the doctor appears to be competent, but it is not enough. SORRY!

I went to Dr. Schottenstein after being referred by a friend. I want to say, I am very picky when it comes to my service providers and although I waited for 20 minutes I was delighted by the details and time he spent examining and explaining my condition. Also my prior doctor misdiagnosed me! He is worth the wait and I would recommend him to all my friends and family.

The staff and Dr. are very friendly. The biggest issue is waiting to be seen by Dr. Schottenstein. He did a surgery on my right eye. I had to go five times before the surgery. The average waiting time was 3.5 hours. One time I had the appointment at 11:00 a.m., he showed up at 1:00 p.m. Patients bring their lunches or snacks!
