Dr. Ehren Thomas Carine, DO

Back in November, after a year of blood work and blood pressure monitoring, Dr. Carine suggested I go on blood pressure meds, 160 over 90. The office manager never called in my script that day after appointment. She has pulled this behavior before at least 3 other times where she forgets to send in my scripts or correctly adds refills. Office only authorizes a 30 day regiment. Then they shut office for 45 days. After realizing I didn’t have enough meds, I tried to get a refill to no avail. No call back, no email reply, no text reply. Very inept and unprofessional. They didn’t call to tell me my March 7th appointment was canceled. I took time off work to go into their office thinking I had an appointment because they confirmed Feb 2nd. How am I, a patient, suppose to know they cancelled my appointment. Then she very angrily tells me that they would no longer be my doctor. I only requested in Feb my meds records. They dropped me as a patient after 14 years with no warning. The office… and office manager ambushed me with their inappropriate behavior and lack of details like I am supposed to read their minds. How am I, a patient, suppose to know they cancelled my appointment. Then she very angrily tells me that they would no longer be my doctor. No one notify me, called me, or texted me this very useful information. I tried to discuss this with them in a professional manner but the office manager said since I requested my medical records in Feb, they dropped me as a patient after 14 years. To clarify, I only requested how I could obtain my records and never actually requested or received them. Ehren, whom I have been seeing for 14 years , whom I thought was a friend, came to the front and I politely asked him for 5 minutes to explain. He looked like he wanted to speak but the office manager pushed him back and said she would handle this. Then Ehren was able to get a word in saying that he didn’t appreciate the Google review and that is why they are dropping me. If you read my first Goggle review, it was clearly a message of concern. They told me they would be gone for 3 weeks to Asia, I have a very good memory of that. It looks like they forgot to tell me it was actually 5 weeks. So my original review was one of concern asking the community if they had seen or heard from them. I never did get a call back, email reply after 5 attempts, or text explaining when they would be back. I truly believe based on Ehrens’ comment that he never actually read my first Goggle review or didn’t retain it if he had. But he had no problem using it as an excuse. I think his office manager told him about it in her own words and he didn’t fact check her lies or read it. A very simple message or any communication would have professional solved the mis-understanding. The office manager has no customer service skills or any compassion, Very unprofessional. I think she is holding Dr. Carine hostage and bully him. What she lacks to understand, is she has pattern of abusive behavior towards the doctors patients. The very worst part of this story and the cherry on top, the office manager called the sheriff on me when I was confused about my appointment being cancelled with no warning and I was afraid I wouldn’t get my medication refills, which they refused. Blood pressure meds, seriously poor form. All of this over what, seriously still so confused. I am so happy I will never have to deal with this office again, beware, there is a pattern of terrible behavior at this office.

I have been a patient here for 2 years. when the office was in madeira beach I was thoroughly unimpressed with the office management and aesthetic appeal. I did like the doc, however, so when the office moved to south pasadena and some staffing issues were addressed, I continued care. in the beginning while the office was being transferred it was very difficult to reach a live person and phone tag was quite frustrating, however it is much improved now and the professionalism of the staff and the appearance of the office are on point. I have come to value the doc's knowledge base, his sensitivity to personal situations, and his willingness to work with me in managing my chronic health issues, rather than throwing medicine at me and telling me to do this or do that.

I have been trying to set up a follow up appointment for a month. Ready to give up and find a new doctor.

Signed up with the previous doctor at this office, She was great, when she left I was transfered to Dr Carine. the 1st visit was great, then it went sour, always confusion about something, once they had cancelled my appointment without telling me, I took a day off work just for that appointment. The office staff is changing constantly, have to go elsewhere for simple lab tests, or xrays. My last visit the room I was in was not a exam room, it was the storage area for the massage therapist, had to beg to have a certain lab test done, which proved I did have a vitamin B12 issue, like I had told Dr Carine. The office is filled with old equipment and furnishings, it appears dirty, and unorganized. The one visit after confusion over my appt. time, the doctor was looking at my chart telling me lab results and what he was all he was going to order, tests, meds etc when he called me by my first name, and I said who are you talking to, he didnt even have my chart, that patient was in… for a visit the previous day. I'm sure that having the right chart is covered in the 1st year of med school.

My family and i been seeing dr. carine for a period of time. He is caring, compassionate and truly care. Takes time to explain and help me get better. Highly recommended.

This is the worst Doctors office I have ever dealt with. Last month I needed a blood test. When the results came back they called me to make an appointment. I went in and paid them $92. Dr. Carine, sits down and says...."everything looks great, keep it up!". He gets up and walks out. He charged $92 to tell me, everything looks great? This Dr. is just after your money!!

Takes time to answer any questions you have. Reviews your last visit. Speaks in a confident and calm voice. He treats you with respect and not another number in his files. I would recommend him to friends and my emploees and relatives. In my opinion he is professional and excellent DOCTOR.

I haven't seen the dr at his new office, but I will immediately try to make an appointment. This doctor is good and caring. He is kind. He listens to my concerns and works with me to help me feel as good as possible with my current medical situation. I like him a lot.
