Dr. Eleanor Gwen Smith, MD

The worst chair side manor from a “professional” that I’ve ever recieved. DO NOT waste your time.

My last appointment 5weeks ago was with Dr. Eleanor Smith. She was my primary care provider the last two years. Within the last nine months I had two major eye surgeries. The first eye surgery was unsuccessful & loss my vision in right eye. I changed retina specialist. The new retina specialist was able to recover my vision in the left eye. Now back to Dr. Smith last visit 5 weeks ago. This visit was set up as a pre-op. visit for elective cataract surgery. I changed my mind about the elective surgery since I needed more time. However I kept the appointment since I was having light-headedness. After telling the doctor this was not pre-op but a regular appointment for the light-headedness, she began yelling at me and said I was wasting her time. She used the word "waffling" about three times. After yelling, she walked out of the room and coded the visit pre-op. Dr. Smith never answered my question. I noticed on the summary sheet she had the wrong blood pressure written in. The… nurse told me my blood pressure when she took it. She also yelled at me for not taking my cholesterol medicine. I am not on cholesterol medicine and never have been. It is clear to me Dr. Eleanor Smith choose the wrong profession. Her chart notations are inaccurate, she lacks compassion, and she does not listen or answer questions.

Like others stated, I went in with a specific concern and she did not take it seriously. She repeated information back to me incorrectly twice within the visit, because she wasn’t listening and formulating her own opinion. Contradicted herself within the appointment. Gave a super condescending follow up email to a question I had and ordered a ton of tests to give me a 2 paragraph description of notes, in which she confirmed what I came in for, but felt it was unnecessary to treat and instead order another test for something else, I assume to run up the bill.

She immediately heard the first symptom I mentioned and when I told her, it was not my primary symptom, she said we only had 15 minutes and she would not have time to hear the rest. She focused on a symptom that I no longer had, and missed some important information. I had never met her before, and am a patient of Dr. Alt, who is very thorough and good. I left and felt i had wasted my time, was misdiagnosed, and felt ripped off. I will not be willing to visit with her again even though she is in practice with a doctor that I believe to be very good.

This doctor dismissed my concerns, used fear-based tactics to persuade me to get a routine screening, and cut the appointment short because she had someplace else to be. She then billed me for over $300. I have never been so condescended to by an internist. She had all the cocky arrogance of a hot shot surgeon....but is only a few years out of her residency. I was mildly traumatized by this experience and truly hope she finds another career. If Dr. Smith truly cares about people, she has a funny way of showing it.

Her lack of experience shows in the way she practices. The other doctors here are better.

I feel fortunate to have chanced upon this remarkable doctor!

Just horrible. Probably the most condescending doctor I have ever seen. Arrogant and misdiagnosed me.
