Dr. Elham Abbasi-Hafshejani, MD

"In all my years, I have never been asked by a physician to get undressed and not been provided the dignity of a gown or some type of covering, however, this happened to my sister with Dr. Elham Abbasi. When I intervened and asked for a gown, she (Dr. Abbasi) attempted to search for a gown, however, stated that she could not find a gown and did not provide one! My sister sat there nude from the waist up, covering her breasts with the shirt she had been asked to remove. I believe it was intentional disrespect. After the physical exam, Dr. Elham Abbasi launched into what can only be described as a fear mongering campaign. We had shared family history of losing our mom to breast cancer at 58. During the visit, Dr. Elam Abbasi asked my sister (who is 53) at least twice times how old she was and each time gave her a look of “you know where I am going with this”. It is one thing to educate your patients and be very transparent, however, Dr. Elham Abassi lacked compassion and was very… abrasive. Her commentary produced a very strong emotional response from my sister, bringing her to tears. This is what Dr. Elham Abbasi wanted. My sister is a low income Black woman with some cognitive limitations, so I paid out of pocket for this doctor to review the initial imaging and lab results acquired from a clinic. Dr. Elham Abbasi essentially gave my sister a death sentence from a couple sheets of paper and stated that there is no cure without any independent testing or imaging on her part. We still do not know the type of breast cancer or the stage. I knew it was important that I remain composed during this interaction and I reminded my sister that God is the final authority in this situation, not the doctor. We left that office feeling violated, but not discouraged. My sister stated that she never wanted to go back. We could never partner with Dr. Elham Abbasi on this journey to healing and recovery. Do you want to know why? Answer: Dr. Elham Abbasi would not see the humanity in my sister or myself."

Dr. Abassi has been an excellent, personable and efficient oncologist in treatment of the DCIS which I was diagnosed with in 2012. I highly recommend her and her clinics to all comers.

Went to see Dr. Abbasi scared to death, after having six family members die of cancer. She was the most caring, professional doctor you could ever ask for. After receiving treatment from her I have been in remission for 7 years.

I am a past patient of Dr. Abassi's when diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago. I had a new concern and made an appointment for 11:00 am. For 30 minutes, I waited in her reception. For another 30 minutes, I waited in an exam room. She is a good Doctor but has ZERO regard for your time. I collected my purse and belongings and walked to the reception area. Dr. Abassi had just walked arrived - an hour after my scheduled appointment. I honestly think she had her lunch with her. I told the receptionist I was not waiting any longer and asked that she refund my money. I don't care how good you are. No one feels like sitting in a reception area or exam room for an hour past your appointment - especially when you physically feel bad. By the way, there was an older gentleman there before me. I guess his appointment was at 10:30 or 10:45. Very, very unprofessional.

Dr Abbasi has impressed me on my first visit for her fact based aggressive approach to obtaining me fast appointments from additional specialist for my aggressive cancer. My impression is that she will advocate for me and my best interests.

This doctor seems to only care about money and not the patient she doesn't listen and her office staff is rude

I had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was seeing another oncologist for about one year. I never felt the first oncologist listened to me so I was not confident in the care plan. I called a nurse oncologist and was given Dr. Abbasi's name. She was thorough, encouraging, yet very business like. I appreciate her manner and that of her staff.

We took my dad to her not really know what the problem was. She diagnosed the problem, advised us what options we had and started treatment within a two week period. We had been taking my dad to the emergency room and to other Dr's trying to figure out what was causing the pain and nausia for over 6 months.
