Dr. Elias Theoklitos Aliprandis, MD

I went back several times. He said everything is fine. Except now I need glasses.

Dr. Elias and his fantastic assistants and staff are thorough, friendly, and very efficient. The doctor really spends time with his patients. He addresses and evaluates all concerns. There are no negatives or shortcomings here! We would recommend the doctor and his office highly. A+ experience!!

Last year Dr. Alaprandis diagnosed a sever cataract in my right eye that my previous Ophthalmologist over a 4 year period said was just "beginning" and was "nothing to worry about" after a yearly 10 minute eye exam. After tests and exams were completed, with Dr. A., over the course of 3 visits he assured me that he could help me. I had the surgery done and my vision is so much better, especially re: color perception and stopping the blurriness. The night of the surgery he called me at home to check to see how I was feeling and if I had any questions. As it turned out I did have quests. and he reviewed the schedule for eye drops with me and was quite comforting. This is my definition of a good Bedside Manner. I have M.S. and all my concerns were addressed and advice was given. There were times in the past when I had Optic Neuritis and Dr. A. was so much better at reassuring me about the course of treatment we would take, then any other of my prior Ophthalmologists were. Yes he… did look at his laptop computer during the visit and that was to look up the protocol Re: M.S. & treatment. Also he showed me some charts about cataracts and explained everything to me. I found Dr. Aliprandis to be both professional and friendly with me and I would say he is very enthusiastic about the current progress being made in Ophthalmology. He was patient with my husband, who had many questions re: my surgery. This year my husband had cataract surgery on both his eyes and he is quite pleased with the results. After over 50 years of wearing eyeglasses for near-sightedness now he wears them only for reading the newspapers. There were follow-up visits with for both of us and I never saw any of the negative manifestations described here. I would highly recommend Dr. Aliprandis to anyone looking for a feasible option to the difficulties they are having with failing or diseased eye sight.

This doctor is manic--so manic that the only relationship he has is with his computer. He talks to himself, is a nervous wreck, and I REGRET having had surgery with him. Besides typing on his computer while you're asking questions, his other interest is remodeling his office. He's totally preoccupied with anything but his patient. OMG it also seems all the staff dislikes him--lots of eye rolling. The receptionist is a particularly teeth-sucking type of rude. I blame it on Aliprandis! I could say so much more--all negative--but with the surfeit of excellent doctors out there, choose someone else.

I regret every day that I ever entrusted my eyes to this man. He is so nervous, so cold to people, so rushed, never listens, types the minute you sit down, talks about you to techs or other doctors like you're not there. He makes no eye contact, minimizes complaints--treats you like you're a nut. Only if the surgery comes out ok does he treat people nicely, but if he screws up, as he did in my case, he brushes it and me off and though I am crazy. He explains nothing, does not comfort your concerns, and basically pushes off all your questions and complaints. His frenetic behavior is so exaggerated that I have suspected he is on some kind of meds that make him nuts because I've never seen another person so electrified, but no in a good way. My cornea operation which was supposed to be so smooth, turned into a mess. He said during the operation, "Oops, this wound is gonna need a stitch." So I walked around with a stitch in my eye for a week. When he went to take the stitch out,… he did not numb my eye and I jumped and he punctured my cornea. I was in agony for weeks afterwards. During the surgery on my second eye, I said to him "No stitches, please." He responded, "No, I learned how to do it from your other eye." The last time I went to see him the receptionist couldn't send the prescriptions by email and so she said to Aliprandis, "Dr. You have to write these out yourself." Well, she'll just have to wait. The reason I had to wait? He was discussing office design with Dr. Conrad. Had I not needed the prescriptions, I would have called him out on his arrogance and lack of respect. I will never go back. He is terrible. Personally obnoxious and professionally sloppy.

I have never left the office of a medical professional feeling so frustrated. He completely dismissed my concerns and did not correctly diagnosis my child. Dr. Aliprandis advised me to come back in a year since nothing was wrong with her. His assistant implied that my daughter was faking because she wanted glasses. When I took my child to the SUNY Optometric Center, they spent a great deal of time listening to my concerns and screening my child. My child was diagnosed with three different eye disorders and is receiving treatment for them. I am so glad I did not wait "a year." My daughter could have lost a year of her education because of her difficulty seeing. Do not waste your time with this dr. On the up side, you don't have to wait long. I wonder why that is...

Although Dr. A. always answers my questions, I cant help but feel that he's in a rush to get to the next patient. After each of my cataract surgeries, he personally called in the evening to check how I was doing. I felt that was a caring, thoughtful and thorough thing to do.
