Dr. Elias Edward Khalfayan, MD

I was rather disappointed overall. I have a complex set of knee conditions and was hoping he or his staff might have some more creative/holistic ideas on how to manage my situation non surgically. I was caught up a bit in the hype of him being the Seahawks team physician. In reality, all orthopedic surgeons I’ve met are basically the same: if you’re not interested in surgery, they push whatever else they can sell you (injections like PRP, HA or stem cells none of which are covered by insurance). They spend a minimal amount of time with you, after you spend a lot of time waiting and talking to assistants. They make sure to get X-rays so they can charge you for them, regardless of how recently you’ve had X-rays elsewhere. I did not find his bedside manner to be very agreeable either. He basically made sure to impress upon me how grace my situation is, while offering nothing helpful aside from injections. He laughed off my questions and seemed borderline offended at some of them, like my… stupidity was audacious. As far as the administrative side, I was unable to complete the pre-appointment assessment online due to technical glitches in their system. I attempted to verify ahead of time that they would have access to my complete medical record from UW Medicine including previous MRI which I was told yes, but then the medical assistant said they couldn’t access them and had me spend time trying to download and upload them in the underground office where I had very limited WiFi. Then Dr Khalfayan seemed to have knowledge of them anyway, so I’m not sure what the issue was. All in all, a negative experience. I will not be back and I would not recommend them, though my situation is admittedly not good so maybe not indicative overall.

Dr. K is absolutely wonderful. He’s always thoughtful, prepared and willing to explain things so we can understand the health situation we are in and the plan to improve it.

He has been the best surgeon I have ever seen and took what seemed like the end for my baseball career and gave me a chance. Phenomenal dude too.

As a parent of an elite athlete, getting a full ACL tear diagnosis was terrifying. Dr. Khalfayan helped take so much of the fear and uncertainty away. He is an excellent surgeon—thoughtful, professional, and incredibly thorough in explaining the procedure and recovery process. Dr. Khalfayan followed my son’s recovery every step of the way, from surgery through rehab and all the way back to the field. I’m so grateful for his care and expertise and highly recommend him to any family facing an ACL injury.

It was a great relief to talk to Dr. K about my shoulder after so many months of getting nowhere with the pain. It was so good to have him validate my experience and make a clear plan while filling in details about my injury I had not had before. He also has a good vibe!! Thank you.

I have a knee issue and he had x-rays and a physical evaluation to help explain that the one is getting worn out and explained next steps Which I was able to set up the next appointment with a specialist in knee and hip replacement

Dr Khalfayan is a thorough professional who knows what he’s doing. I’m not from this country and was always skeptical about the healthcare system here but he made it so easy and comfortable. Really good surgeon and easy to put trust in his hands. OPA as an organization has room for improvement but the doctor is a standout!
