Dr. Eliza Middleton Berkley, MD

I am a high risk patient with already VERY high anxiety about my pregnancy. I have had diagnosed medical anxiety for 10 years now that is being managed by my PCP and was managed by medication until I got pregnant. This doctor tried to convince me that I may have a cardiac issue vs. anxiety. She did not listen to me at ALL. I was almost having a full-fledged anxiety attack while she was in the room with me. While she listened to my heart, she said she heard a few palpitations and I needed a holter monitor. The nurse came in and said that I needed to see a cardiologist. I said I'd like to speak with my PCP and my cousin, who is a cardiologist, first...as I KNEW I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ANXIETY ATTACK! Which causes palpitations (that I could FEEL) along with rapid heart rate. Still there was no active listening happening. The nurse said "I don't mean to scare you, but she heard an erratic heartbeat and she thinks you have a cardiac issue." I know my body and this doctor knew me for… 10 MINUTES. I have since been checked out by two people who are familiar with my history and background and I have been cleared of any cardiac issues...no palpitations or erratic heartbeats were heard (because I didn't have someone scaring me and wasn't as anxious). I would not recommend this doctor and we have requested to see others in this practice. Terrible thing to do to a patient.

She was extremely rude and ugly towards me and by the time I left, i was in tears. i will never see her again even though i am 39 weeks pregnant and i am just praying that Dr. Hill will be the one to deliver my baby.

Her staff at the Norfolk office was very friendly, Dr. Berkley has that drive to find the best treatment methods and explains evertything, the way a patient can understand. Great work Dr. Berkley and EVMS ( Norfolk )
