Dr. Elizabeth Bettencourt, MD

Staff did no give me pertinent information about scheduling/changing appointment and overall Tufts rules plus doctor gave me wrong information about required/mandatory tests. A test was performed on me without my knowledge. Overall, one of the worst experiences in a medical office. Irresponsible and unprofessional to say the least.

Dr. Bettencourt walks into the room and says good morning/aftenoon, ask how you are doing and if there is anything new going on; it's not this cold uninterested tone in her voice or a wall up between patient and Dr. She is, very gentle with her procedures, she explains what she is doing, when there will be a little pressure, very alert and super nice. She listens. If I could divide her up to be my Primary Dr., Dentist, Foot Dr., Heart Surgeon, Specialist Dr. in every and any field, I would. It is so tiring hopping from Dr. to Dr. If I lived in another state I would fly back to her state just to keep my appointments with her. I am very thankful to God to have found her!!

Dr. Bettencourt is the worst OBGYN I have visited. First, getting into the appointment was easy enough. I gave my name and insurance information was taken back promptly. The nurse who took my initial vitals did not know how to use their system and was very slow. Additionally, Dr. Bettencourt's bedside manner was awful. She gave very judgmental looks, no matter what the response was. She also gave incorrect instructions on the use of my birth control, which I have been using for over a year. When I questioned her instructions, she acted like I was the incorrect one and told me that "it shouldn't be that hard". Following the appointment, no one ever called to tell me my results. I had to call them. They had me in the system twice -- once with a misspelled name. Furthermore, I was billed by THREE DIFFERENT labs and health centers without the insurance information I had already supplied to Dr. Bettencourt's office. There was no clear indication why this was happening. When I called, the… person did not seem to know why either. My guess is that they can make more from billing insurance this way. On top of all of this, if you have an emergency on the weekend, don't even try to reach them. Their answering service is completely useless and very rude. Overall, their staff and services are incompetent. I went because I had seen good reviews, but I have no idea why. I have never had such a terrible doctor experience, and I will not be returning to their office.
