Dr. Elizabeth Myrna Ellis

Dr Ellis was recommended by my childs pediatrician for ADHD testing. During these visits Dr Ellis once stated that "people are now getting their children diagnosed with ADHD for vanity". Dr Ellis did recommend that my son receive medication but when I asked how that worked, would she write the script or would I have to go through his pediatrician? Dr Ellis responded that she would write her findings/recommendations and send them to his pediatrician. After a week, Dr Ellis had not written or properly communicated her findings to my sons pediatrician. I called Dr Ellis' office on multiple occasions, Dr Ellis wanted me to provide her with a personal check for her to HOLD until my sons insurance paid the bill. She also informed me that she missed packing time(she was taking a vacation) to write her summary of my sons evaluation (the summary that she was holding until I produced a personal check).My story is way more detailed and ended with me reporting her to MEDICAID AND THE STATE BOARD.

Elizabeth Myrna Ellis is the most unprofessional & disrespectful therapist I’ve ever known. She rambled for long periods of time and interrupts many times with no apologies or guilt. I have been diagnosed by two different psychiatrists with ADHD and have been taken medication for it. My childhood doctor also agrees that I do have ADHD, and has thought so ever since I was of a young age. I have been seeing a personal therapist for ADHD for months also. But I’m our session she claimed that I do not have ADHD due to having good grades in middle school but my grades began to slip in high school. I brought up how I know many people with ADHD personally that have good grades and she responded by saying “Their parents probably paid to have their children diagnosed with ADHD.”. This shows little to no knowledge on mental illness and little to no respect for this practice. She has shown little to no care about what I was there for. In the past she was taken to court by a client and found… guilty. In 2009 the georgia state board of examiners of psychologists, sanctioned her license was granted BUT she had to take extra psychology classes and education courses to remain licensed to practice. This shows she is not only negligent, but also careless towards this extremely sensitive and professional career in psychology and therapy. Please do not ever go to her. One of her previous clients brought their son in for his depression and she kept insinuating that he did not have depression, months later he tried to commit suicide. We have been to several sessions with Dr Ellis. After each, we kept hoping that this would get better. Dr Ellis’ office is on Pleasant Hill Road between a car wash and a strip mall in Duluth. We were patients of Dr Ellis for several months as we were trying to decide on an amendable divorce as we balanced concern for our children. Our goal was to either separate amendable and work through our issues and our children’s. My wife suffers from mental issues including severe depression, prescription drug use/abuse, thyroid and mood swings. After after several accidents, cosmetic surgeries, claims someone stole her jewelry, stalking, pecking on her windows. It did not help that my wife later refused to take her medication because it makes her feel guilty, after some prescription abuse. Dr Ellis claimed that she was less expensive that an attorney and could help. A typical session started out with Dr Ellis declaring “... your (wife/husband) states that you lie all the time. Is… this true?” My reply is that my spouse is crazy. Dr Ellis did this to both of us and these sessions have actually resulted in more issues between us. It has been months now. Divorce is imminent and the sessions are thankfully ending, almost. There are other issues with her service. Dr Ellis refused to expose my wife’s prescription drug abuse. Dr Ellis simply asked her instead. Later, I took photos of the medications and gave to her. Dr Ellis then requested my spouse to self-identify her use. As imagined, there was denial and more visits. If you wish to instigate a fight with your spouse and extend these services then Dr Ellis comes highly recommended. She actually benefits from these hostile seasons. Dr Ellis also appears to play the children against each other and against us, all the while denying their communication to her. Dr Ellis stated to our children that they “played us” very well. She laughter as she stated this to them. Dr Ellis authored a book titled “Divorce Wars”. I must admit that this is a fitting title. I imagine this generates repeat seasons but little remedy and has questionable references. Dr Ellis only accepts cash or bank checks because others have disputed her charges, she says. And as other patients have also stated, she seems desperate. She appears to accepts patients with good paying insurance and self pay with a focus on self pay as there are not many requirements for these services. As noted by others, we are not surprised that her book lacks certifiable clinical data. Dr (PhD type) Ellis appears to gather and compile the information from her patients without too much regard for collection and likely from patients that have agreed to non-confidential disclosure. To us, we have regrets for her services and her involvement with our children which have been harming. It is sad to learn that others have the same view. We have more harm than benefit.

I have read some prev. comments and I cant disagree more. She has talked to me in the waiting room when my daughters comes out of therapy but there is no one in the waiting room with us. her offices not out dated, she has a unique stile that dont resemble all the doctors offices out there. She has a PHD and specializes in children with parental alienation syndrome. she is great. with teens and listens to parents concerns,

Dated and dirty office, rude and judgemental in treatment. Not recommended.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I am writing a complaint to the Georgia Medical Board until this review popped up. She is very rude. ex. She told me my Daughters name was a boy name the first day we sat down to meet her an then told her when she took my son to his appointment. In the waiting area she asked my daughter about a knife incident he had and which my daughter knew nothing about. Instead of coming to get my son she question my daughter who was my son ride only to the appointment. Then she asked my son to write my daughters down and then told her is a boys name. She questioned my daughter about why we move so much and told her how many schools my son had attended then at some point asked my daughter why am I so busy. All this in the waiting area. She is unprofessional. I left a message last night of my concerns she then called me and said I got your angry message... AMAZING because I was not angry but frustrated with how she treated my daughter who was again just my sons ride to… the appointment. When we spoke she said I was angry and when I told her I was not she kept telling me I was. I kept telling her lets move forward with the issues with my son she refused and only wanted to speak about my anger which I was not at that time. She took no ownership to the concerns my daughter me told and tried to justify her questioning my daughter who does not live with me again and again all of this in the waiting area. Instead of her speaking on how to help my child she wanted to focus on me. Im not her patient which I kept saying and to focus on my son which she refused to do so I hung up because my concern is my son not myself. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!

Dr. Ellis is very insenitive to children and parents who deal with child sexual abuse. She appears normally to be for the abuser. She helps courts figure out how to get the sexual abuser off probation or sentencing when she is actually supposed to be working as an impartial court advocate. If possible I would stay far from her
