Dr. Elizabeth Marie Ignacio, MD

Dr. Ignacio performed surgery on my shoulder Nov 15th 2019. She prepared me well for what to expect both pre and post-surgery. I had an almost complete supraspinadis tear. I'm 67 and one would expect a long difficult recovery from such an operation. Not my case. Dr. Ignacio did an excellent job on my shoulder. I did what I was told to do, so not to re-injure myself. Her directions helped my tremendously. Although there was some pain and stiffness the first few weeks, it was never unbearable. Different from what other surgeons tell their patients, I was told not to wear a sling at home to prevent shoulder freeze or excessive stiffness, which many people have experienced. I only wore the sling in public to prevent people from bumping into me. It worked, too. I've had PT twice a week for the last 4 months and have been recovering nicely. I am vigilant about stretching and exercising every day. Now I just have a little stiffness. Today, 4.5 months after surgery, I swam 500 pain free… meters. I also found Dr Ignacio to be quite pleasant, though don't expect a lot of chit chat. She is very busy and I respect that. I highly recommend her.

I dislocated my shoulder 3 times, and all treated by her. Dr. Ignacio is very knowledgeable and friendly, and I should’ve listened to her advice after my first dislocation…I rushed back to play basketball way too soon. I plan to get surgery in May and will do another review afterward. Overall, she’s great. The doctor from Straub recommended an open surgery but Dr. Ignacio said that it’s a small tear and she would never do an open surgery unless it a life or death situation. That doctor is crazy. Cons: Yes, the wait is kinda long (15-25 mins).

I have been seeing Dr. Ignacio for knee and shoulder problems for 8 years or so. I cannot say enough good things about her. Since 1980 I have seen no fewer than 6 Orthopedic Surgeons from California, to Texas two Hawaii, because of a knee injury. The first thing each and every one of them wanted to do was SURGERY! Although I knew the day was coming when I would need a knee replacement, Dr. Ignacio also knew I had concerns because of a bad experience my oldest brother had on the mainland. (he had a knee replacement, it got infected, and he lost his leg). She worked with me with injections and physical therapy for as long as that worked, (about 5 years). Finally in May 2017 I knew it was time to have that conversation. She referred me to a great surgeon who did the knee replacement, and I can only say, “Thank you Dr. Ignacio”. Unlike many surgeons who have never seen a joint they didn’t want to cut on, that was her last resort. I can thank her enough.

She thinks she is better than her patient! Whoa!

She refuses to listen to my concerns about complication resulting from her attempt at shoulder arthroscopy.

Dr Ignacio is tops in my opinion.

Dr. Ignacio has very little respect for her patients. She will treat you like garbage. She was not flexible at all with regards to her schedule and will not accommodate yours. She told me that I needed surgery, scheduled it and gave me one option and one option only for a pre-op visit. When I tried to negotiate another time for the pre-op she and abruptly cancelled my surgery and would not take or return any of my calls to try and work things out. She is devastatingly unprofessional and I am so glad that she never cut into me, I would be regretting it for the rest of my life. The ladies in her office seem to be pleasant as they should be, but she absolutely used that woman who is her office manager and scheduler as her heavy. Use your good leg and run, run from this practice.

Dr. Ignacio is an artist of surgery. She did a wonderful repair on my shoulder and am very pleased with her services. Staff is awesome and treat you like a friend. I have had several visits with other Dr's and searched far and wide and was blessed to come across Imua Ortho- Mahalo Dr. Ignacio

In 2013 I hurt my knee. I went to see Dr. Ignacio, got an MRI, and was diagnosed with torn cartilage. Surgery was scheduled. During the pre-surgery visit, I asked Dr. Ignacio to explain what she saw in the MRI, and she became upset. She qualified her response by saying, â??With all due respect, ...â?? then spoke with stern indignation, citing her education and medical experience, as though I had somehow questioned her expertise. She never did answer my question, and all I was trying to do was ask her, as my doctor, (...as My â??DOCTORâ?? for godâ??s sake!) to help me to understand what she saw. So, given her propensity to misinterpret my question, I canceled the surgery because it was clear to me that Dr. Ignacio harbors some sort of deep seated psychological complex that prevents her from accurately interpreting the comments & questions of her patients. This could, in turn, result in a similarly inaccurate diagnosis to which I am not willing to put myself at risk.

Dr. Ignacio is very rude and sarcastic. She does not respect or appreciate her patients. She is always in a rush and talks down to her patients. Her staff is nice but she has a horrible. A doctor needs to be more than knowledgeable as bed side manners truly makes the difference. I tried to give Dr. Ignacio the benefit and saw her a few times but our last visit was the worst. She is a horrible doctor to her patients. We are in search of a better doctor who will treat us with respect. You deserve better as well stay away from this doctor.
