Dr. Linda Jean Rasmussen, MD

Dr. Rasmussen spends substantial time with her patients from first diagnosis to final follow-up after surgery, something I had not experienced with other doctors who used staff instead of one-on-one care. She is an extremely talented and skilled surgeon with many years of experience. Treatment and recovery was further amplified through her exceptional care team who prepared and guided me through the medical process step-by-step. My complete hip replacement surgery was quick, easy, and without significant pain. I was amazed of how smoothly the surgical procedure and recovery went. Prior to going to Dr. Rasmussen, I researched various orthopedic doctors on Oahu and obtained referrals from friends who have undergone hip replacement surgery. After my personal experience, I'm so glad to my friends who recommended Dr. Rasmussen because she was absolutely fantastic. To those searching for an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, I give my highest possible recommendation for Dr. Rasmussen.

I had a partial knee replacement. Dr. Linda Rasmussen did the surgery assisted by CORI, a robotic system. The head nurse named Theresa also assisted at Castle Medical Center. I can’t say what happened during surgery because of anesthesia, but everything went well after I woke. Even the dressing used was perfect, a silver silicone patch that did NOT stick when removed nor cause an adhesive rash that I normally get. Perfect. I started PT affiliated with Castle. Physical Therapist Michael McCarthy did an excellent job of speeding the recovery. All in all, the experience was excellent. The only fault was my own with the ice machine pad. I ran out of ice on the first day. Instead, buy a case of small water bottles & throw it in the freezer. Wash & refreeze the bottles after use. Recycling the water is much, much faster than the ice maker built in a home refrigerator. The pre op nurse suggested that, but it was not in the PowerPoint slides, so my caretaker daughter missed that. Highly… recommended!

I arrived on island in January 2025, looking forward to a winter of diving. Unfortunately, I suffered an accelerated deterioration of my hip and found myself unable to walk, let alone dive. A friend recommended I go see Dr. Rasmussen. I spend 5 months on island every winter and return to Cleveland Ohio. Dr. Rasmussen advised me that I was a fracture risk. My choices were to immediately return to Cleveland and have total hip replacement surgery there (where I had my 4 previous joint replacements done); have surgery here on island (in 3 weeks); or do nothing and roll the dice that I don't suffer a fracture. I am 66 years old and I've had 4 prior joint replacements, so I am familiar with the process and the risks. I chose to have Dr. Rasmussen perform the surgery here on island. I am a 78 year old woman, and Dr Rasmussen has replaced one of my knees and both of my hips, as well as my father’s knee around 2000, when he was around 80 years old. I have the utmost confidence in her medical competence and judgment, as my remedial surgeries have allowed me to continue my active life style. My latest hip replacement was a preventive one, as she detected multiple cysts on the femur ball which would have eventually resulted in a fracture, were it not for a preemptive replacement now. As hip replacements these days last 40 years, there really was no excuse for my putting it off any longer. I felt that It may have precluded a really troublesome remedial surgery later. I highly recommend Dr Rasmussen for her experience and expertise in both knee and hip replacements. (The incision is also very neat and healing nicely!)

Before I made an appointment I was walking with the help of a walker (the pain in my back and what I thought was my sciatic nerve down my right leg) I made the appointment to get my knee evaluated from a motorcycle accident from 42 years ago. When Dr. Linda Rasmussen started checking my mobility, she immediately discover that my hips were severely damage. Within a week I had a brand new right hip and within 3 weeks I was walking without a walker. I had my right hip replaced in July and my left hip replace in September and now in October Im almost back to normal. We were truly blessed to find Dr. Rasmussen and her staff including her team at Castle hospital.

Left Hip replacement surgery was perfect. A study in how medicine should be practiced. Each step of the way through my hip replacement process was "by the numbers" example of attentiveness, professionalism, caring, follow-up, and patient interaction. Oh, and love the "mandatory" hugs on each visit.

It is exactly 2 months today I had my left hip replaced. I am sitting in the United lounge waiting for my flight to Athens Greece. My hip is fully recovered , full range of motion with no pain. This is my second hip replacement (right hip 7 years ago). Both have been life changing. I am a 30 year old patient who had a Total Hip Replacement performed by Dr. Rasmussen. Dr. Rasmussen is an absolute professional and genius at her craft. At my previous Ortho Clinic it felt like I wasn't getting proper care or medical advice. I had a previous hip scope that made things worse, and lost the trust of my previous ortho specialist with the advice he was giving me. I made the switch Dr. Rasmussen's clinic, and the difference was night and day. She immediately diagnosed my issues, and laid out a list of options for me to choose from, including Total Hip Replacement. Being so young, I never thought THR was an option, but Dr. Rasmussen assuaged my fears and preconceptions. Her lengthy experience performing the operation, detailed explanation of the parts she uses, and control of the OR convinced me. Surgery was fast and her recovery protocols for me helped tremendously. If any young patients are suffering from quality of life issues like I was with their hips and had no other surgery or physical therapy options, please reconsider THR, especially with Dr. Rasmussen.

Highly skilled and Nurturing The staff is very friendly and efficient-appreciated that I was I was well taken care of and on time. Love Dr Rasmussen! She is knowledgable and very nurturing. I had both of my knees replaced by her - I was very comfortable that I would be well taken care of. I highly recommend following Dr Rasmussen's advice on following a low carbohydrate diet before surgery and post surgical recovery. I followed it more rigidly on my second surgery and I can honestly say that recovery was quicker and better the second time around. That was great advice and I highly recommend it!

Dr. Rasmussen is an excellent surgeon. She performed a total right knee replacement on me in September 2022. I am still in the recovery process as it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year to fully recover. The scarring is minimal compared to the past due to the new procedure of gluing instead of stitches and staples. Thank you to everyone at Windward Orthopedic Group.
