My hero! I was a 53 year old male victim of a motorcycle accident when a SUV pulled in front of me when traveling 60 MPH. I needed up with a compound open fracture of my right femur. I was taken to University of Michigan trauma center where I met Dr. Klag. Although I was in excruciating pain and on pain meds I remember Dr.Klag being very nice and was able to explain to me the options for surgery. She made me feel comfort that she was able to help me and save my leg to give me the best outcome. The surgery involved placing a rod in the femur that was broken in three pieces. The surgery was 5-6 hours and ended around 11 PM. Dr.Klag was there first thing in the morning to check on me and debrief me on the surgery. She explained everything went well and they were able to save a much of the femur as possible. I did not have any issues with infection and Dr. Klag checked on me several times before I left the hospital after three days. I had route X-rays and follow up appointments every two… weeks for the first two months with Dr. Klag and every interaction was a positive experience and gave me hope that I was healing and improving. I am in the seventh month of recovery and believe I’m doing well, the biggest hurdle is rebuilding all the muscle that was torn when the bone ripped through the side of my leg. I believe Dr.Klag did an amazing job with my leg especially given the challenges of the accident. I would highly recommend Dr.Klag and would absolutely go back to Dr.Klag for any of my future needs.
