Dr Elizabeth G Matzkin, MD

I sought out Dr. Matzkin because she was highly regarded in the area and she told me she could repair my meniscus. I told her how important running was to me and that I was currently able to run and so I only wanted to go through with the surgery if I could get back to running afterwards. She said I could so I agreed to the procedure. Afterwards I was told there was nothing left to repair and that she had to take out more of my meniscus. My PA told me to consider a meniscus transplant during my first post op - telling me that I probably won't run again. I don't understand how it wasn't immediately obvious from my MRI that my meniscus was not repairable. Why was I not prescribed PT before I was recommended surgery? Nearly two years later and I've had to have 2 more surgeries to address my knee because my arthritis began to accelerate very quickly after that first surgery. Her office would not even give me a referral to a surgeon for a meniscus transplant even though I asked many times.… I just kept being told - you need to give PT and recovery more time. When I finally saw a new surgeon, I was told that I wore away my femoral condyle and needed both a meniscus transplant and bone graft for the cartilage. I am in pain every day and I can not no longer do the things I love such as hiking, running, playing with my dogs. My experience with Dr. Matzkin has left me extremely depressed and hopeless and I've just been spiraling downwards since my surgery. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Misdiagnosed my mother. She was giving her treatments for some arthritis pain but didn’t notice a bone cancer.

Did not want to listen, or help me with my pain..she told me she had no idea what was going on and then offered the most invasive procedure that I would have never needed. This Dr did not adress the actual issues that I am still suffering with.

Dr. Matzkin and her PA, Caitlyn are the most caring and compassionate providers. They listen to your problem and work with you to come up with a plan to help your problem. Dr. Matzkin repaired my meniscus almost two years ago and has followed me since for osteoarthritis. She is an excellent surgeon. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She is brilliant! She spends a lot of time listening to you and does everything in her power to make you better. I just wish she performed joint replacements because she and Caitlyn are the best! Also, she doesn't make you feel bad if you are overweight. She is extremely kind when discussing the issue of weight. She is the best and her Admin. Asst. also goes above and beyond for you as well.

Extremely competent and successful surgeon. She asks lots of questions, but most importantly, really listens to your responses. Genuinely caring and reassuring. Can't recommend more highly.
