Dr. Ellen Michelle Platt, DO

Dr. Platt has been a trusted resource for my family and myself. She has listened and has given advice that saved our lives. Dr. Platt has lead us to changes we needed to make. Some of those changes were not easy to make, but we would not have known to make them without her guidance. We are eternally grateful.

NEVER EVER go see this psychiatrist. She was EXTREMELY UNQUALIFIED, UNPROFESSIONAL, and INCOMPETENT. Do not be fooled by all the diplomas hanging on the walls in her office. We regretted going to see her. We were sent by Roseland school district as their Board-approved doc. After spending about half an hour interviewing my son and me, she started typing away for the next 1.5-2.0 hours, basically repeating the information given to her by the school. During the time when she did ask us questions, she kept asking the same questions a few times within a few minutes. By her asking if we were there for a "risk assessment" which was not true, this showed that she did not even know what we were there for. We were basically watching her type away and were held "hostage" until she was done. Toward the end, she finally spoke to me and declared her several diagnoses without providing criteria from DSM-V, which she claimed that my son's symptoms met DSM-V requirements, but never showed… me the DSM-V. In fact, she couldn't even find that book (which is a standard for diagnosing someone among psychologists and psychiatrists) in her office. In her report provided to the school, she MISREPRESENTED my perspective in multiple areas and totally MISDIAGNOSED my child whose issues were not enough to warrant any diagnosis. When I brought the issues up with the school, the school representative, in turn, was kind enough to share with these concerns with Dr. Platt. Instead of reevaluating her statements as what professionals would, she insisted that she stood by her words (even when obviously they were false in many respects.) In short, it was a total waste of taxpayers' money and our time. Worse, her report has provided us with nothing but stress and anxiety over her misrepresentation of information, illogical train of thought in the report, and most concerning of all her misdiagnoses. PLEASE DO NOT GO SEE HER.

Referred by child study team. She is definitely not a professional. She kept changing her report according to school’s requests. Her report was full of nonsense. She did not add everything but only the pieces that favors school. I would never recommend her.
