Dr. Ely Might Aure Tamano, MD

Dr TAMANO is beyond remarkable or Superb. In my 50+ years of being in medicine myself, I’ve not met a psychiatrist ever show the qualities of this gentleman. His level of knowledge and expertise was immediately recognized by the exchange we had as he reviewed my history in conversation as I shared my past and present health concerns. The doctor was personable and fully focused on providing the Right Care for me. He worked on the correct focus - my quality of life - getting to the right treatment plan. He provided literature for me to read and consider. I left with continuing the medications I was on and a new mindset because he had established a feeling of “partnering with me in providing directional and support in MY plan of care”. This gave me a new level of confidence and feeling of worth. What a Rock he is in his gift to others.

Clinicians are not counselors. They prescribe meds. The choices they make are based on knowing you. I’ve been a patient w/ Dr.T for 2.5 years. I was at rock bottom. My mom was desperately trying to find me a Pdoc. Many years ago I had been seen, once, at Dr.T’s practice. I had just been diagnosed BP and was lost. The practice has a strict policy that ifyou miss one appt. you can never return. I did and was banned. My mom received Dr. T’s name from a friend. She wrote him a letter explaining that I had violated policy 10 years ago, but was in desperate need of help. Not only did Dr. T agree to make an exception, he saw me almost immediately. It takes forever to even get an appt. w/ a Pdoc. I was near death when I met him. Since then I live independently, returned to work after 10 years and have trust that Dr. T’s decisions are based on reason and caution. His awards, experience and position as one of the two directors of the largest Psych practice in the city speak for themselves.

Dr. Tamano has been taking care of me for about five years or so. I've never before had a doctor that seemed to listen so well and was kind and caring. Whenever I let a problem go on too long, he always says, Why didn't you call me? He is the best at medications, too, and always explains what they can do for me. He is an around good guy and I am so lucky to have found him.

Dr. Tamano has been treating me for over four years and I hope I never have to go to anyone else. He got me out of the hospital and made me feel normal again for the first time in a long time. He listens and responds according, adjusts medication when necessary , and is truly a nice person. He doesn't judge me or treat me as if I am "nuts" even if I might be. :) He is one of the nicest psychiatrists I have ever seen. Thorough!!

I have been seeing Dr. Tamano for over a year now, which I started after my long-time provider retired. I was apprehensive at first since I don’t do well with change, but the transition was smooth and successful. Dr. Tamano is very knowledgeable and informed about medications, side effects, psychology, and clinical neuroscience. Being an active participant in my medication regiment has always been important to me, rather than having an expert telling me what they think is best. He has treated me like a member of a team, taking my own feedback and recommendations into account. He is always on time for scheduled appointments, and I never have to wait for more than 5 minutes in the wait room. He’s quick and efficient, and I trust that my well-being is always in mind. I highly recommend this provider.

I am so very grateful that Dr. Tamano’s sister Hazel recommended him to me. He is a great doctor, and has helped me so much in the short time I’ve been going to him. He is so caring and kind, and never makes me feel bad when I share all the stupid things I do in my life with him. He never judges me; he only tries to help me. My only regret, is that I didn’t find him so much sooner. My life would have been so much better. But, better late than never. I need to go forward. He is truly a gift from God. Dr. Tamano actually listens and asks questions. He adjusts my medication when needed and seems to sincerely care about my well-being. He also recommended a wonderful therapist that helped me through some issues that had been with me since childhood. I wish I would have reached out for help 20 years ago. I am now leading a more fulfilling life because I am able to focus on my family and other interests instead of self-imploding.

In past therapy, I don't believe I was fully disclosing. I decided to try to find a caring psychiatrist. When you're trying to recount things and string them together for someone else, it can sound a bit confusing. Dr. Tamano really listened, clarified, and wanted to understand. It can be difficult, I think, to fully equip a physician to help you. One has a tendency to be guarded and gamey. I was in a bad way. It TAKES TIME . . . but I did a 180. I opened up, played no games. Dr. Tamano truly helped.

Dr. Tamano has been great to work with in regards to my mental health. I originally was supposed to see another Doctor in the practice, but found out that Doctor didn't treat what I needed to be seen for. Upon the recommendation of the staff, they promised me that Dr. Tamano was a great Doctor. After just two visits I whole heartedly agree Dr. Tamano is great! He asks plenty of questions and genuinely cares about what you say. Upon my first visit he advised me of a prescription I had been taking that could be bad for my brain in the future. I am grateful to him for telling me about this risk. After a couple of visits I feel very hopeful that my mental health will continue to improve with the help of Dr.Tamano. If you are like me you tend to be skeptical. I can tell you that I trust Dr. Tamano and would recommend him to anyone including my family members.
