Dr. Emil Azer, MD

Suffered a fractured acetabular from a skiing mishap. This type of injury is serious, not common and requires a trauma surgeon. I was transported 200 miles to the Upstate Medical Trauma Center where Dr. Azer stated he felt he could repair the damage with good results. He did the surgery and I followed his post surgical directions along with the physical therapy I’m now in good shape. Follow up visits were good, he was always polite and professional answered my questions.

Over a 90 minute wait. Showed very poor bedside manners. Offered no input on why I was there nor showed any concern. I wasted my time and money with him. I would not go back nor recommend him to anyone.

Saw Dr. Azer for a second opinion after botched surgery with another doctor. He saved me!

I go into my 6 week post op appt. Dr Azer comes in and shakes our hands Sits down , looks at my X-ray and asks how it feels when I walk on it. I am a paraplegic, no feeling from the waist down. I think it’s quite unprofessional for nurses, doctors or anyone in the medical profession that doesn’t read a patients chart. I was devastated. I thought I was in good hands there. Then he doesn’t even look at my leg. Doesn’t check the skin ...the surgical sights...nothing. Just looked at my X-ray on the screen. I’m not sure why , but the human factor has gone out of medicine. He may be a great surgeon...but when you ask a paralyzed patient that you operated on how it “feels”. That’s a red flag to me to not go back!! If you like an assembly line type setting...this is the Dr for you

This man is always full of energy and knows how to find out what shape your really in. No nonsense approach to treatment. Personable man. Best knee man I've ever had.
