A Cautionary Experience with Dr. Emilio Montero, Psychiatrist I am deeply disheartened by my family's experience with Dr. Emilio Montero. It has severely shaken my trust in the U.S. healthcare system. In my view, this physician demonstrated a troubling lack of professionalism, compassion, and responsibility. My daughter spent 10 days under his care—10 days marked by confusion, frustration, and a lack of transparency. During this time, Dr. Montero prescribed six different medications without providing any clear explanation for his choices. He failed to communicate any diagnosis, prognosis, or rationale for treatment. He made no effort to understand her medical history, refused to speak with her previous physicians, and disregarded input from our family entirely. The indifference extended beyond him—his staff and nurses reflected the same dismissive attitude, treating our concerns as inconveniences rather than valid input. No one should feel this helpless when seeking care for a… loved one. If you come across this physician, I urge you: proceed with extreme caution—or better yet, RUN.

Infamous in Miami for being an abusive doctor, Emilio Mantero has more than 200 cases over 12 years for wrongful and harmful Baker Acts. Even his colleague doctors refer to him as "Nurse Ratched" for his sadistic pleasure in Baker Acting patients to criticize him or disregard his 19th century approach to psychiatric medicine.

This psychiatrist wrongly Baker-acted my relative, and sent him to Souther Winds mental place without ever calling patient relatives. All under heavy drugs, lack of self defense. We are speechless. We think this doctor owns shares of that place.

I believe Dr. Mantero to be very caring, helpful and overall a great doctor. He is attentive, assuring and funny. I admire his dedication to his profession and his patients.

What a great doctor .I have no insurance and he treated me for an extended hospitalization without making me feel inferior and provided a superb care . Caring and very attentive to my needs as well as to every patient in the unit. He made sure that I was properly followed and that mis medications were paid without any cost to me . TRUE PROFESSIONAL AND LOVING DOCTOR. 100 % recommendation

In 2016 I had an emotional break down and was conned into going to the recovery institute of south fl. Dr. Mantero did an interview with me and inappropriately asked me if i masturbated. I felt humiliated and violated! 2 weeks in i AMA-ed myself, the police officer wanted me to speak with a crisis counselor to make sure i would be ok to make the ride home. Dr. Montero had me directly admitted into the psychward at Jackson Miami North. He changed my meds with out discussing it with me, after I told him why I was on Paxil. He put me on such a high dose of Cymbalta that It was too much for my systen, along with other drugs that made me want to hurt myself. I had told him that I was very sensitive to medications before this! My psychiatrist here at home recognized what Dr. Mantero was up to, because RISF was insurance fraud, he drugged me so I would sit there for the 90 days while my insurance was milked. GOD HAD OTHER PLANS!! For a doc who messed with my meds, he disappeared after I got… out of the hospital and I took myself off 2 of the drugs and when I got home was put back on paxil. I feel for his patients... i watched him talk down to a woman with schitzophrenia, who talked to me on a normal level. He talked to and treated me like I had no intelligence what so ever.

DR.Mantero-Atienza is an amazing psychiatrist and friend. He saved me. And I will forever be grateful to him for helping to find out about who I was and teach through therapy that there is nothing we can't accomplish. GRACIAS EMILIANO.
