Emily Downing, MS

Emily Downing, LPA, MS, is a licensed psychological associate who has practiced medicine since 2008. She sees patients ages 16 and up at Saint Joseph Health - Behavioral Health, where she performs neuropsychological and psychological assessments. Her areas of interest include dementia, stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion, COVID-19, migraine, headache, chronic pain and ADHD.Downing was inspired to become a caregiver by her mother, who worked as a nurse with dementia and psychiatric populations. She chose her specialty because she's always been fascinated by how the brain works and how diseases affect the way people think and feel. Her approach to care is to listen and give each patient "the time they need to be heard and valued," demonstrating humankindness by treating each patient as an individual with compassion and respect.Downing holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University and a master's degree in clinical psychology from …EKU. In her off hours, she enjoys running, watching her daughter's softball games, cooking, baking and training jiu-jitsu.
