Dr. Emily M Samuelson, PhD

Many years ago, I saw Dr. Samuelson. When I was 13 and 14, I was abused at choir school. By the choir director, the cook and the headmaster. It happened a lot. With the choir director as much as 3 and 4 times a day. I had many problems with this, but after many, many, many conversations with Dr. Samuelson, I began to realize that I was not responsible. So I began the long process of charging the school and changing the law. A very difficult process. Because in my state, charitable immunity existed and the school couldn't be sued. Many, many boys had been abused at the school. I talked with kids from the 50s through the 90s and pretty much everybody knew about it. But nobody said anything. But now, they were willing to appear on Nightline and other tv shows to talk about it. And in court! After years and years and tv shows, newspaper articles and more, we changed the law in the legislature and won in the Supreme Court. Finally, but Donald Hanson, the choir… director is still free in Canada, and Mr. Batallia, the headmaster is still free and the cook, he is free too. So, maybe, there is more to do...before we are done. I just don't know. But I do know that without Emily Samuelson, this would not have happened. She is a wonderful psychologist.
