Eric C. Darby, MD, FACS received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Washington University and earned his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College. He completed a residency in General Surgery and a residency in Urologic Surgery at New York Medical College's Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Darby is board certified in Urology, a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been practicing in Newport News since 1998. Dr. Darby is currently Chief of Staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital.

I have never met a worse Front Office Staff in all my 65 yrs. Very Rude. Very unprofessional. They will consistantly make appt. for you....but never have a conversation first. You'll just get an email saying you have an appt. I had two appt. , both times they did not include the Medtronics tech. which was the purpose of my appt. I waited two hrs. for tech. Never even got an apology. After surgery...I had a follow-up appt. which did Not include the Dr. Darby or the Medtronic tech. Are you kidding me??? I work full time and I am not able to just take off for appt. Appt hours do NOT accommodate working folks. During discharge from my surgery....NO instructions were given concerning my surgery at all.....Poor care at best. DO NOT recommend this Dr. at all.

Dr. Darby has the Positive Attitude that is characteristic of someone who not only knows his work, but seemingly enjoys doing it. I'm glad that I found him.

Dr. Darby is an excellent Urologist with a good bedside manner. he takes his time with me. I started seeing him 4 years ago when my other urologist retired. I have a history on kidney stones, enlarged prostate and elevated PSA. Last year he performed a green light laser ablation of the prostate with good results. I have every confidence in him and recommend him highly.

My father ( 80 years old) had seen Dr. Darby for 20 years when almost 2 years ago the trouble began. He had numerous stones that needed removal. After 14 visits to Mary Immaculate in 8 months they were removed. His bun was 100 and his creatinine 9.0. Dr.Darby still did not believe that he should be on dialysis. Luckily we changed doctors and went to Riverside. My father is on dialysis and now leads a life in which he DOES NOT want to die.

Having health problems is not fun, but Dr. Darby instills confidence with a positive attitude.

I changed Doctors in the middle of cancer treatment because his staff was horrible then they refused to send my records to new Doctor. I had to inform my insurance company.

I almost cancelled my appointment after reading these reviews on Dr. Darby as I was a new patient and want a good doctor. Well, I went to my appt. and am so glad I did not cancel!! Dr. Darby, Shelly and all the staff at his office were wonderful.! I felt very comfortable talking with Shelly and Dr. Darby, they were both very informative, did not rush and took their time to answer any questions I had. I am relieved to have had such a good experience with a first time visit and will continue to use this practice in the future.
