Dr. Eric Mathew Goldberg, MD

My local gastro doctor found a large mass near the ileocecal valve of my large intestine during a routine colonoscopy. The biopsy was benign, however, I was told cancer may still be present. Surgery was recommended to remove 1/3 to 1/2 of my colon. I went to 3 surgeons for their opinions and all said surgery was the only option so I scheduled it. Before the surgery, I did an internet search for large mass in colon and discovered a procedure called EMR--endoscopic mucosal resection and Dr. Goldberg was listed as one of the doctors in my area with the skills to perform this procedure. EMR is basically a colonoscopy with specialized tools at the end of the scope. After a consult with Dr. Goldberg, I scheduled the EMR. If the mass turned out to be cancer, I could proceed with the colon surgery. But if the mass was benign, I wouldn't be able to get my colon back. Dr. Goldberg was able to remove all of the mass with EMR and it turned out to be benign! The procedure was less than an hour and… I was able to go home after recovering from the anesthesia. I highly recommend him for his expertise and quality of care. He saved my colon!!

After several years of going around different hospitals trying to find the cause of my wife's losing blood, he was able to find the cause after one visit and treated my wife for a few years. However we found Dr. Goldberg too late and he later diagnosed her bleeding because of a bad liver and referred her to a liver transplant specialist where upon she did receive her liver.
