Dr. Eric Jason Hanauer, MD

I am a 64 year old woman that has been suffering with migraines since I was 7 years old. I went to see Dr. Hanauer for something else previously but this was the first time I saw him regarding migraines. I have been trough many procedures, medications, studies and doctors over the years. My husband usually accompanies me to office visits as I do the same with him because we find it more effective when communicating to a doctor and remembering all that transpired in the past. Dr. Hanauer was clearly disturbed that my husband was in the room. He wouldn’t acknowledge him at all. After turning to my husband in trying to recall medications, past doctors, procedures and dates – I was reprimanded by Dr Hanauer. I was ordered to look at him and not my husband. He said that I looked at my husband 15 times and to look at him. He told me that he was a smart person and has a college degree but could not understand me so I needed to talk to him. All he wanted to know is what script I wanted him… to write. When I went back to my primary care physician to get a referral for another neurologist, the nurse printed out the notes from Dr. Hanauer. His notes said that he discussed medication options, side effects and advised that follow up appointments were necessary with PCP/medical providers and that we expressed gratitude for the care I received – none of which took place. Dr Hanauer is rude, berating, condescending and lacks empathy for his patients.

I couldn't ask for a better Neurologist!

this doctor spent more time talking about nonsense. he was rude and said I should have known better that I should have called emergency instead of driving. i didnt know better. then he rolls his eyes at me. what doctor does that?

This Dr basically accused me of being a drug addict after having a concussion. The office staff was advised to inform me i was on the nys prescription list as a flag bc i received codeine cough syrup for bronchitis a month prior to seeing him. I had been going to this practice for two years and they treated me like a lying drug addict. Ive never been so offended and hurt by people who i went to for help
