Dr. Eric Hilquist, MD

I have bilateral hip labral tears- and full thickness cartilage damage in both hips and I'm 25. I need surgeries to fix the labral tears- and potentially restore cartilage. I have not yet had surgery- Dr. Hilquist is not a surgeon- he's an orthopedic doctor- he processed my MRI's and helped assess my condition. He was very good at explaining things and discussed and gave me a lot of options. I also had to have the office help process a monumental amount of paperwork for workman's comp- and he was more than accommodating. He's just very direct and to the point- in the first visit he unapologetically used a ton of hand sanitizer after shaking my hand. Which from a medical stand point is a good habit to have- though funny outside of the office. He was meticulous and and explained things in a lot of detail, he pulled strings and got me a referral outside of my healthcare system for a surgeon with more experience. I have been dealing with a lot of doctors in orthopedics, I… think they all tend to give you advice along the lines of why all other orthopedic dr's don't know what they're talking about. He was a really good resource and was referred to me by my physical therapist and gave me honest, & fair assessments of who I could see for surgery. He was really really helpful- and gave me a lot of technical information on my condition and limitations and made sure I understood. It wasn't information I wanted to hear since my condition wasn't good- but he told it like it was explained why and told me what I could not do matter of factly and did not beat around the bush. He dealt with questions really well- and when I didn't understand why something was serious he used the model in the office to show me where my injuries were and what they might be able to do to fix it with surgery. Only issue is he sometimes works between both clinics- and they move his appointments sometimes to accommodate the schedule. Only happened once. He's a great resource for advice :) Apologies for the grammar/punctuation typed this on my phone.
