I rarely write online reviews; the service has to be so note-worthy that I feel morally compelled to do so. Dr. Pinnar is such a case. I went to him for an inguinal hernia repair that I had for 16 years. I found him because I wanted a “specialist” to do the operation, and after tiring research of various techniques and testimonials of patients, I eventually settled upon Dr. Pinnar. Despite my hernia being among the worst he has seen in his career, he repaired it with such a degree of mastery that I basically had No Pain. (now granted, I have had a life of martial arts, my pain tolerance may be a bit above average, but I took no pain meds, as the “pain” I felt was barely above an inconvenient Ache) There is an excellent quote by Ashleigh Brilliant: "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others," and may mine be that warning to any who read this: I was one of those “All Natural” guys, thinking that through ab focused exercises I could repair… a hernia… when this proved futile, I dreaded the thought of a synthetic mesh in my body; so I looked at meshless techniques - which, when scrutinized, are arguably more “unnatural” than just laying down a mesh. after 16 years of self induced Mule-like stubborn delay - I finally got the operation with the expectation of weeks of pain, discomfort, and possibly permanent limited mobility. This was all self-created Nonsense! A mere 5 days after Dr. Pinnar’s repair I felt practically no pain, and after 2 weeks I felt better than I had in Years. So, the moral is: Do NOT be me… with modern technology there is nothing to this procedure, and the longer you wait the more difficult you make it for yourself and, more importantly, the Surgeon. Fortunately Dr. Pinnar’s 30 years of specialized experience made short work of my difficult repair. Beyond all of the praise I have for Dr. Pinnar’s Mastery of his Craft, I must add that he is also a genuinely caring man. Let alone often directly answering emails and text messages; he actually personally called me a few hours after my surgery to check on me and make sure I got back to my room. And, if all of this was not impressive at any price; the further degree of amazement was how outrageously fair his total fees were! I cannot say enough about my respect for this man, the experience was genuinely “Jaw-Dropping” in every aspect. So please, do yourself a favor, if you have a hernia, Do Not Be Me! Stop delaying and and call Dr. Pinnar; you could not be in better hands. One last note for people who live far away; people travel from all over to be treated by Specialists. Dr. Pinnar is no different. To facilitate this, he offers easy to use, streamlined video appointments for those out of state, such as myself. I drove nearly 5 hours from AL to FL to be in his care; (longer than many plane flights) and there are very nice hotels less than a mile from the facility. Dr Pinnar was amazing he took more time in consultation than I imagined was even possible , he explained things about the procedure that brought peace to my anxiety and He showed a genuine interest in my well being, very refreshing to find such humility iand empathy along with wisdom and Excellence !

I was drawn to Dr. Pinnar from Mercola. Mercola is all about natural healing, so this changed my thinking. I’d been keeping things together with a hernia belt and acupuncture treatments. Dr Pinnar explained everything in meticulous detail during the consultation. I’m so glad I finally got the surgery. It’s a night and day difference. Coming from across the country wasn’t an issue because I was able to use a companion service for recovery.

It is never going to be someone's favorite discovery in your late 50's when you have been working out and taking care of your body religiously for your entire life, but the discovery of a hernia and the discomfort and potential dangers are a fact of life and something you cannot ignore. After getting multiple opinions, it was a God wink that I heard an incredible testimony from one of my favorite and highly respected doctors I frequently listen to on a podcast about his recent hernia surgery experience. Throughout the entire podcast I kept saying to myself "please share this doctor's name with us" because I was going to fly to wherever he was in the US to see him. He went into incredible detail and all about his recovery, which ended up being a 3 part podcast series. He couldn't say enough about how professional he was and how the entire experience was the best he could have ever wished for. I knew this was my answer when he finally mentioned the doctor's name, and his office was a… couple miles from my home. What a blessing that I listened to this episode, as this led me right to Dr. Eric Pinnar's office within a few weeks. He and his staff were everything that I had expected after listening to such a testimonial. From the initial visit and consultation where he spent such an incredible amount of time answering all of my questions, and the contemplating of all the options alongside me, I could not be happier with the entire process with getting healthier again. This was my very first surgery I had ever had in my entire life. I was extremely stressed and worried about going under, but Dr. Pinnar's bedside manner truly put me at ease. He will answer every question, take all the time you need, and will make you realize you are in the best hands ever. The actual surgery is the pinnacle of the treatment, but I was so grateful with the entire process. Dr. Pinnar and his staff were kind, professional, and informative. After I was diagnosed with a bilateral inguinal hernia I found Dr. Pinnar while searching for a provider to do the hernia repair surgery. I found Dr. Eric Pinnar from an interview he did on Dr. Mercola’s Youtube channel. I really liked his views on patient care and dedication to staying up to date with new procedures. I talked to Lauren at Advanced Hernia Specialist to set up a virtual consultation with Dr. Pinnar. During the consultation he talked with me for over an hour answering all of the questions that I had at that time. After a few days I thought of more questions about the procedure and the different surgery options and scheduled another virtual consultation with Dr. Pinnar. After some discussion I decided to have laparoscopic robotic surgery to repair both hernias. I was a self pay patient and Dr. Pinnar’s office was very helpful in getting all of the contact information needed to get good faith estimates from the hospital where the surgery was going to take place. I… traveled 7 hours from North Carolina to have Dr. Pinnar perform the surgery. We were able to book a hotel conveniently close to the hospital. Dr. Pinnar came in and spoke with us before the surgery. The surgery went very well. Afterward Dr. Pinnar came out to give my wife a very in depth update on the surgery and stayed with her while I was in recovery. The next day I was able to ride back to North Carolina without any issues. The day after the surgery Dr. Pinnar called to check on how I was doing and continued to be available if we had any concerns through the healing process. Overall, I was very impressed with Dr. Pinnar as a surgeon. He is dedicated to patient care, has a very good bedside manner that makes you feel cared for, and will clearly go the extra mile to make sure the whole process goes smoothly. I would definitely recommend Dr. Pinnar to anyone looking for a surgical provider.

In doing the research about the multiple options available for my surgery and listening to various opinions and choices from others, it became obvious that Dr. Pinnar was one of the most qualified and successful surgeons that I could hope to find. All of the criteria cited below were more than satisfied in my mind and delivered a sense of confidence that his world-class reputation was my best choice. When people (including some very famous ones) come from all over the world to seek a surgeon's expertise, that speaks volumes about the competence of that surgeon and it became a very easy decision to make to enlist his talent in adressing my situation. The fact that his entire team was very patient-focused just increased the satisfaction index. Results post-surgery?? I had the robotic procedure for an inguinal hernia using Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci robot which he is very accustomed to and proficient in using. While any patient's situation can be different, the bottom line was… that is was a "non-eventful" procedure with almost a complete lack of pain post-op (1 out of 10 for about 36 hours so it was more like discomfort rather than pain). The incisions inherent in this procedure are very small and healed quickly. Other than not doing anything strenuous to the abdominal area that I was advised against (in order to faciitate tissue healing), I resumed a fully normal life the day after. Any kind of surgery is an undertaking that requires a lot of thought and investigation as to the potential risks of the procedure vs. the benefits sought. Surgical competence, quantity of similar surgeries and past history of success necessarily rank at the top of the requirements list to indicate that the surgeon of choice has proven him- or herself as the most competent operator one can find. Education level, knowledge gained from prior surgeries, analytical capabilities, chosen area of expertise and time spent practicing in such area, professional affiliations, recommendations by others (both professional and patient authored) and personality all contribute to the success ratio. The ability to calmly make potentially life-saving decisions during stressful moments when unexpected condtions present themselves during surgery is a talent that is mandatory when selecting a surgeon. These factors necessarily contribute to the statistical odds of a successful outcome but how do the patients themselves gain the comfort of actually knowing they are in capable hands? Much of that comes from the ability of the surgeon to effectively communicate all the potential positives and negatives that could manifest themselves in their specific situation both during and after the procedure and to effectively educate the patient in terms that they can understand while also taking all the time necessary to effect that understanding. It's also pleasing to know that his professionalism may counsel you on what type of care you may not need as well. Dr. Pinnar made a choice to decide to not work with insurance companies and other bureaucratic entities by becoming a cash-based surgeon. The major benefit from the patient's perspective is that he is no longer constrained by ancillary, cumbersome and bureacratic decision-makers behind the scenes that take away his ability to spend more time with the patients and significantly address their concerns. His commitment to putting the patient at ease was obvious and his personality is well suited for accomplishing this as well. One of the key admonitions he clarified is that if a person starts to develop a hernia, DO NOT wait to see how it progresses. By nature, they cannot repair themselves over time. The best time to address it is when it's diagnosed. If a primary care doctor says to watch it and see what develops, do not wait as the situation can do nothing but deteriorate. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Eric Pinnar and his incredible team. This was actually the second time I needed surgery for the same hernia, and after a less-than-ideal experience the first time with a different provider, I knew I wanted to find someone new — and I’m so glad I did. From the very beginning, the scheduling process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. The administrative staff was kind, responsive, and incredibly helpful in getting everything lined up quickly and efficiently. As for the surgery itself, Dr. Pinnar did a phenomenal job. I felt informed, cared for, and confident every step of the way. The procedure went perfectly, and I was amazed by how pain-free and easy my recovery has been — night and day compared to my previous experience. I truly wish I had known about Dr. Pinnar the first time around. If you’re considering hernia surgery, don’t think twice. I had a gallbladder attack and ended up in the ER. The next day I called Dr. Pinnar and Julie was able to work me in to see him that afternoon. I was amazed and thankful at how much time he took to explain everything, from what the gallbladder does to the surgery he would do to remove it. Prior to surgery he told me he was going to complete the surgery robotically which would hopefully reduced my recovery time (one small incision at my belly button). Even though he ran into some complications as my gallbladder was much more inflammed then the ultrasound showed, he stuck with it and a week later I am feeling great!! I canâ??t thank him and his staff enough for a wonderful experience. Nice to find a doctor that truly cares about how long it will take for his patient to recover!! Thank you again!
