Eric E. Wegener, MD, is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He also has a Certificate of Added Qualification for Hand Surgery from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Wegener authors book chapters and medical journal articles and instructs at local, regional, and national meetings to further othersâ€™ abilities in plastic surgical procedures.

Dr. Wegener performs the full gamut of plastic surgery, including cosmetic, reconstructive, and hand and upper extremity surgery. Cosmetic procedures he specializes in include facial procedures (forehead and eye lifts, nasal reshaping for appearance and breathing problems, face and neck lifts), otoplasty (shaping of ears), breast enlargement and reshaping surgery, and lower body procedures (tummy tuck, liposuction, lower body lift, arm lift, thigh lift, and labiaplasty). Surgery for the reduction of large breasts and post-mastectomy breast reconstruction are also areas of Dr. Wegenerâ€™s …considerable experience.

Dr. Wegener also treats many conditions of the face non-surgically with the use of Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and various laser treatments. He works in close concert with the aestheticians in the Face and Body Spa, as skin care treatment for lifelong health is a major component of his expertise. In the realm of hand surgery, Dr. Wegener takes care of an extensive list of hand and wrist problems caused by injury, arthritis, and nerve problems. This list includes carpal tunnel syndrome; trigger finger; hand, wrist, and finger fractures; changes due to rheumatoid arthritis, tendonitis, tendon, and nerve injuries; Dupuytrenâ€™s contracture; and a myriad of wrist conditions. Born and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Dr. Wegener is one of six children, two of whom are physicians. His father, Glenn, a gynecologist and obstetrician, had tremendous influence on his interest in medicine, and after graduating from Lee Academy, Dr. Wegener obtained a BS from Mississippi State University in biomedical engineering. After MSU he attended the University Medical Center in Jackson. During his plastic surgery rotations, Dr. Wegener solidified his love for plastic surgery and became fascinated with hand and wrist surgery. He received his plastic surgery training in Akron, Ohio, and extended his training an additional year to receive a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at UMC.

Dr. Wegener married Connie Johnson from Meridian, Mississippi. She is one of four children and has a degree in pharmacy from the University of Mississippi. They have three children: Katie, Eric Jr., and Cecil. He shares many interests with his children. They all enjoy hunting and sports. Dr. Wegener is an avid golfer and enjoys playing with friends as well as his two boys. Not only was his father a physician but also a Lt. Commander in the Navy where he served as a fighter pilot. Dr. Wegener inherited his fatherâ€™s love for flying as well. He earned his pilot certificate while in college and continues to fly friends, family and anyone in need whenever possible. He also is an Aviation Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration and performs flight physicals for pilots.

Dr. Wegener and his family are dedicated members of Christ United Methodist Church. Faith, family, and friends are his primary focus, and he feels truly blessed to use his God given talents in a career that he loves.
