Dr. Eric Walton Wideman, DO

Dr. Wideman was pleasant but incompetent in understanding my emergent situation. I have secondary labile hypertension due to a disease. He let his PA, who was very thorough and competent, handle my case. All was well until shift change, when he took over. Not understanding what was happening, I don't think he reviewed the PA's notes, because several things she ordered didn't happen, nor did he read my ECG until 4 hours after I was released, (abnormal) and he sent me home after giving me another BP med, which she had already done, with a BP of 197/136 still going way up and way down stating, "nothing emergent here, you are good to go."

I saw Dr. Wideman in the E.R. at PVH. I had fainted and broke my leg. I received an EKG, X-ray and all the routine tests. Dr. Wideman told me that other than breaking my leg everything looked okay. About a week later I reviewed the notes, comments from my visit to the E. R. on line in my medical record. Much to my surprise I found out that the EKG was identified as abnormal. The comments on this test were from Dr. Wideman he indicated that I had evidence of an old heart attack. This was a shock to me as I have no knowledge of a heart attack. What was disturbing was that he did not mention this to me in the emergency room, this information was not listed on the test results and comments that I was sent home with. This cost me a follow up visit with my primary care doctor, a cardiologist, and two diagnostic tests. I received a clean bill of health from the cardiologist, there was no old heart attack. He also did not follow up to make sure the cast/boot that I was given for my… broken leg was fitted correctly. Which it was not.I left the hospital with an ill fitting boot on a broken leg.

My questions are:Why did Dr. Wideman not tell the EMT's taking care of my daughter, who is suffering acute brain injury, to start mannitol and hypothermia therapy treatment in the field on my daughter????When Dr. Wideman was advised by the EMT"s of my daughter's severe nature, the GCS score, multiple traumatic injuries, deceberate posturing. Why didn't he call for life flight to take my daughter to a level I facility? Why did he not call the neurosurgeon until 23:33, almost 45 minutes after my he has learned of my daughter's conditon. I think Dr. Wideman along with the other five so called doctors should be fired for imcompetency. Because everyone knows there is a golden hour of opportunity to treat acute brain injury. This doctor called the only doctor who could have helped my daughter way pass the golden hour. shame on all of you so called doctors, it sure did not take you long to call the local donor store. You all do that superbably, I mean you did it right on time, within… two hours. But I guess you forgot to read the law, you do not determine brain death until at least 6-24 hours, until that time according to the local donor store you are suppose to do all with in your power to save the patient, not the recipient.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
