Dr. Erich Von Mattern, MD

Went to him for a physical. Told me I failed my respirator test. I was previously sick and was having a hard time getting enough air so I thought maybe that's what it was. I also had asthma as a kid and have always have had a weeze. He told me that he could talk to my primary Dr and have them get a prescription for me. I told him he had retired, so he asked me if I had insurance. I said yes, he says he can get it all done for me. I call Monday and explain to the receptionist everything. She was RUDE. She belittled me. Made me feel stupid as I was trying to explain what the Dr. had told me. Said that he would never do that and even said she wouldn't do that( like she's the doctor.) I asked her if she's thought I was just making it up (it's for an inhaler) she said no. Then she hung up on me. I called back and then FINALLY she asked him. She said he didn't in fact say that and then said "You in fact have a primary Dr. Don't you?" Very snide and matter of fact. I said once again he… retired. She said "Well that's not what Dr.Mattern said" like she was a toddler who won a prize for arrogance. I was done so I said " that's fine maybe try to be nicer to people when they call because you are extremely rude." She was absolutely awful and extremely rude as soon as she picked up her phone. He told me he would fill my prescription for an inhaler. She told me we don't just hand out inhalers like I was going to abuse it. Like it was opioids. Do yourself a favor and find a different doctor. He's probably a liar due to the 2 other people on here who he gave false tests to for the exact same thing. And the older women who answered the phone probably needs to retire or switch her line of work. Not a kind bone in her body. Thank you for the absolutely awful experience??

I have been a patient for 11 years. I have always found Dr Mattern to be very informative. He always listens to what I have to say and involves me in my care plan. He has always answered my questions and has treated me with the upmost respect. He does expect his patients to follow the health plan that you agree to as his patient and if you don’t follow the plan he will ask if you want to be his patient. I respected him for that. With my care he has been very thorough. As a patient he has always valued my opinion. In the past he has done research on a new medication and spends time talking with me about side affects. I have never experienced him not caring for my well being. At times my medical needs were outside his scope of practice and he was quick to refer me to the type of Dr I needed to see. Yes he sees a lot of patients and sometimes seems a little overwhelmed but that’s because he not only has his regular patients but he takes walk ins as well and I’m sure some days… there are to many patients. I will continue to see Dr Mattern for all of my medical needs.

OK so life circumstances - really bad ones - human trafficking ones-and I ended up in a brothel. Long story short this is where all the brothels send women to get "checked". I kind of vomited in my mouth today when I saw the long list of women who get checked. Not due to the women but because I realized how disgusting the staff and THE "doctor" who makes at least 700 a day on "testing " women for STD's. The hypocrisy of this doctor and staff makes me so sick, They treat law abiding citizens like drug addicts and trash. I can't wait to find out where this doctor got his med license. Apparently this idiot checks "working" women for track marks ( i.e. accuses them of being drug addicts) The front desk pregnant lady treats the working women like trash too. If only he knew the good majority of working women are actually law ABIDING citizens that obey the law. I am so shocked by what I have HEARD and witnessed at this med office. My dad and more went to Georgetown Univesity. This doc… probably went to a crap med school and has to make do with not only testing "working girls" but is enamored with mistreating them. I am so grossed out. I realized if he and staff think this poorly of us - and seeing 10 plus girls a day - do they really bother to even change the pap smear thing? So grossed out

I've been seeing Dr. Mattern for probably 10 years, that alone should give an indication of how I feel about him and his staff. I very seldom have to wait, and he has always showed great care and concern for my wellbeing. He's always answered my questions in a professional manner, and often provides an analogy to help in my understanding. I will continue to see him for all of my common ailments.

In my case tried to push a statin drug, when I questioned it I was asked to find another doctor. Finding another doctor was the only useful medical advice he gave.

This Dr wants to charge me 260 dollars for an office visit because I have a commercial drivers license from Idaho,I don't think so,thats why I use Medallus Elko ,they charge me and my wife 90 a month,and for 10 dollar co-pay we can see the staff 7 days a week and it covers labs xrays and a lot of other stuff,I will never use this doctor

Went with my wife for abdominal pain. He let us know that she had menopause from our last visit. He didn't really seem to care about the pain that she was in ,and when we tried to revisit the pain issue he said he has other people to see. My wife got upset began to cry,that is when told us we could do our labs at the hospital and left the room. I walked my wife out to the truck and went back in to pay and saw him walking the hall to his office. I didn't know that doctors saw patients or as he put it people in their office. He charges way to much and spends at most 5 to 10 minutes with the people if you're lucky. It cost us 96 dollars to have a nurse aid take vitals and I guess the insult was free. The only recommendation for this doctor I would give is if you hear his name run fast and cover your wallet. Another black eye on the medical community of Elko.

Horrible experience. This doctor is not professional and makes patients feel like they are uneducated and stupid.

He listened to me and even called a specialist for further information on my case. I love the Staff, they are friendly and great.

I went to Dr. Mattern because I've had a problem lately of urine retention. I'm only 26 (female), and I figured I must have a UTI. I also had a kidney stone a few weeks ago, just as extra information. I only went to him because he accepted walk-ins because Urgent Care wasn't open, the Elko Clinic wasn't open, my Gyno couldn't get me in, and I didn't want to spend all day at the ER for a non-emergency.They tested my urine and nothing came up. No UTI. He basically shrugged and said here are some antibiotics anyway. He didn't know what was wrong with me and didn't really care. Then he lectured me for 5 minutes about diabetes and how I'll never get health insurance if it's ever on my record. Oh, and by the way....I'm not diabetic (never have been), and I already have health insurance with no plans to change in the foreseeable future. What the heck?I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I have to go find a different doctor today that will hopefully help me figure this out instead of… just saying "oh well." I had to wait a half hour in the little room by myself ("the doctor will be a 'few minutes,' he's with another patient" they said. Right.). He didn't know what was wrong, and he didn't seem to care about finding out either. No referral to a urologist, no ideas why a 26 year old female might have bladder problems, and no suggestions for anything except taking an antibiotic that wouldn't help a nonexistent infection. Wonderful.
