Dr. Ericka Patrice Stone, MD

On April 20th, I presented to the hospital with complications related to my pregnancy and was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. During my evaluation, I was seen by multiple physicians, including Dr. Stone. Throughout this experience, I felt rushed, overwhelmed, and emotionally distressed. There were multiple conversations happening simultaneously, and information was presented to me in a fast-paced manner, which made it difficult to fully understand my condition and options. Instead of being supported during this critical moment, I felt scrutinized regarding my prior healthcare history. Dr. Stone questioned me in a way that felt judgmental, specifically stating that I should have been attending annual appointments, which added to my distress rather than helping me feel cared for. When I asked questions about my condition, including requesting to see imaging and better understand what was happening in my body, I felt that my concerns were met with impatience and a dismissive… attitude. I also requested additional time to process the situation and to contact my family before making a decision about surgery. However, I was made to feel as though I was being rushed, and I was told, “How much time do you need? We need to get started,” which made me feel pressured rather than supported in making an informed decision. Ultimately, I consented to surgery because I understood that my life was at risk. However, after the procedure, I felt completely disregarded. Dr. Stone did not personally come speak with me to explain the outcome of my surgery. Instead, I was given limited information while still under the effects of anesthesia by a nurse. This experience left me feeling unheard, unsupported, and emotionally dismissed during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. I believe that the bedside manner demonstrated was unprofessional and lacked compassion. Patients deserve to feel informed, respected, and cared for—especially during emergency medical situations.

I came to Dr. Stone because a different Ob/Gyn at Touro mishandled my care. She is kind, pays attention to my chart and notes, and listenems to my concerns completely. Dr. Stone lets me ask questions about her approach and treatment. I never feel rushed or dismissed. She's thoughtful, but also very direct and straight to the point which is helpful when you're trying to figure out actions and care. I've referred other patients to her, particularly other women of color.

This doctor has a horrible reputation at Touro amongst former patients and staff.

I really like this doctor. I am excited for her to deliver my first baby!
